And some of the things these people come up with is incredible. But there are so many and I don't know where to start. Any suggestions on must get mods?

unofficial patches are a must. the hearthfire one just came out. everything else is taste.
Edit: Any mod involving mudcrabs is also a must.

The problem is that most "must get mods" are dependent on what you want to change. I feel that my multiple magic enhancing mods are all must get, because I want the magic how it is with these mods.
But all around "must haves" I would say
Posh Mudcrabs
SkyRe
SkyUI
The Uncapper
UFO

why not check there there's 178 pages of gold for you
I really did not want to scroll through 178 pages. . . .
As to the other guys thanks for the opinions. I think that I would be most interested in mods that improves combat, character animation, the looks of the characters, better armors, that kind of thing.
Any suggestions?

Yeah thanks for that. . . -_-
The reason I posted was to get peoples personal experiences opinions about them. It is all well and good to just go and get the highest endorsed mods, but I would like to know which ones people thought were good and worth downloading.

warzones mod is aweosme. It adds all kinds of awesome to the game. Adds civil war battles all over the map. Monsters some tiems show up in the battle and stuff its crazy cool. Also some people have helped you in the topic. I understand where your coming from cause im curious as to what good mods are as well. So many of them to choose from that do almost the same thing.

I checked the ones suggested by CiceroTheJester, and I have to say the posh mudcrabs is so good. But I could not find 'the uncapper', has it got another name?

Cloaks of skyrim is a great mod I say get it because some character types just don't look right without a cloak or cape. And there's SBO skyrim blade overhaul thinner and longer swords which make certain swords and daggers look more realistic by making them just slightly thinner and longer. And like on person has said on this topic unofficial patches are a must too. I also would say better magic and lightning during thunder storms are a must along with any realistic lighting mod that works with it

Some lore-friendly clothes and hair those are.
What mod are you using for the face? I am using pretty face + bfg and while I like how it looks, it's still not quite how I want it.

I'm also using pretty face pack, but it's a different version which is not in the nexus. I'm constantly looking for mods that will add more to the cutesy factor.

Graphics...
1. XCE (for better looking faces which stay true to vanilla ruggedness and none of the anime crap)
2. Realistic Lighting with customization or Project Tamriel (both offer zero performance loss)
3. Claralux
4. Imaginator
5. ENB series (there are too many different versions and they do affect the performance. CLENB doesn't go overboard and looks quite nice imo).
6. Texture packs and enhancements (use whichever you want or all of them).
7. Apachii Hair (if you want better looking hair-styles)
Armor and Weapons....
1. Jaysus Swords
2. Immersive Armors
3. Craftable Open face Dragon Priest Masks
Edit:- 4. Improved Close-faced helmets.
5. Armed To The Teeth (look at it and judge for yourself if you want it or not)
6. Cloaks of Skyrim and Winter is coming
Game-play....
1. Deadly Combat
2. Dual-wield Parrying
3. Convenient Horses
4. Ultimate Follower Overhaul
5. Specialized Followers
6. Deadly Dragons
7. Better Magic (a must-have if you want to play as a Pure Mage as vanilla magic isn't balanced)
8. Riding's Dirty (horse combat perks)
Those are just at the top of my head and I know I'm missing some really good ones but that list should help you get started, TC.

armed to the teeth can be a pain to set up. so worth it if you get it working though.
Also, where did you find better open face helmet?
