One thing I miss from New Vegas is how there were more dialog options, it made it easier to try and role play a character. It's hard to make my character my own when the vast majority of dialog choices are "I will mindlessly go along with you." At least let me going along mindlessly with everything with a few dialog choices.

Like when you first talk to the greybeards and you can respond in a few different ways. It ultimately doesn't affect anything, but it makes my character feel like my character.

For instance. Oh how I wish the dark brotherhood had a side with Cicero option. Because seriously, hail sithis, glory to the night mother, screw Astrid and her little band of thugs. But no no, we HAVE to follow Astrid the whole time because heaven forbid that dovahkiin actually have an opinion and anything and not just be a mindless pawn for everyone and their chicken.

I agree, there isn't enough variety in the dialogue, the quests, the characters (hurr you're the Dragonborn, go fetch me a sword durr).

I'm playing a new character right now and was doing the Forsworn Conspiracy last night and I wish it gave you an option to turn in the Silver-Bloods into the Jarl for the deal they have with the Forsworn.

Or be able to lead the Riften Guards into the Thieves Guild Lair

Or be able to join the Silver Hands after finding out the Companions secret.

There is just so much more this game could have done. Dont get me wrong I love the game. It just could have been the best.

Dovahkiin really doesn't have any presence at all as a character.

I think the best thing they can do to work towards this in the next game is to have competing guild questlines, similar to how Dawnguard handled it:

    Fighters Guild <> Bandit Clan
Mages Guild <> Cult of Necromancers
Legion / City Watch <> Thieves Guild
Church / Knights of the Nine <> Dark Brotherhood

(all of these are just generic examples of course, since I have no clue which old / new factions will appear in ES 6)

It's pretty simple in design, really. Take the MG for example - you are encouraged through rumors to join, and when you do, one of your first missions is to investigate a nearby necromancer coven; when you get there, a high-ranking cultist (or even Mannimarco himself) offers to let you join. You could also circumvent the initial 'good' mission by stumbling upon two or three preset necro lairs and offering to join before attacking them. Over the course of the questline you'd be given at least one opportunity to change your allegiance before cementing the quests, and you might even be given a chance to broker a truce between the two factions at the conclusion, resulting in rewards and facilities from both factions (but completing one side exclusively would result in a more powerful reward).

This. He also has no imagination and can't think of any solution to problems without using violence.

In New Vegas (hell, even in Fallout 3) I could roleplay a chain-smoking, hard-drinking, drug-abusing computer hacker with a natural charm who could talk his way out of anything which was good 'cause his hands shook so much from all the substance abuse that he couldn't hit the side of a barn with a gun within the confines of the game. To do that in most games, I'd have to shoot my way out of a situation and then say "well, that doesn't work with my character, so I'll imagine I just talked them all into dropping their weapons."

I was massively disappointed to see that they hadn't managed to include any more than a single gameplay option in Skyrim, that single option being "kill this plz."

I (obviously) agree. Best part of NV (almost any Fallout game really) is that you can talk and do quests in the way your character would. Plus, you can kill anyone aside from kids so you aren't forced to put up with their BS for no reason, and you can build a reputation for yourself that changes the way people deal with you.

I also partake in the circlejerk known as FO:NV, I would even say it's my favorite game of all time (with various FFs, LoZs, sonics, spyro, ratchet and clank, and super mario world for the SNES thrown in), but seriously this is pretty much a different game. FO:NV was story driven, it allowed choices in quests to alter the outcome of events (which I still argue that the only thing that happen to the gameworld aesthetically wise as a whole is that various legion camps would get wiped out/new ones come in, you get random BoS squads on the road, Goodsprings might get wiped out, Primm gets a new sheriff, and all this gets talked about on the radio. So you feel somewhat important). To add to that MANY characters get interesting backgrounds and even companion quests make you feel like you BONDED with the person/nightkin/ghoul/dog/eyebot whatever. Instead of skyrim's (for instance Erik the slayer), buy me a suit of armor and we can go on adventures together. Only for him to never have unique speeches again. I guess taking him places, you're supposed to have an "imagination" about what Erik would say in certain situations. Which is fine and all, but we're not five.

THAT BEING SAID, this game is not story driven, but EXPLORATION driven. This game is BEAUTIFUL, and no one can deny that. So much scenery and so many places to go. People really need to stop fast traveling and get on that horse and ride the country side. I promise its worth it. The fun in the game comes about when you stumble upon on random caves and dungeons and using various skills you learned to progress through them. Sure the reward at the end might not always be worth it, but sometimes it's more about the experience.

EDIT: another thing is that I hate the "wide as an ocean, deep as puddle" because while admittingly skyrim falls short on the story at times, the world itself has many exploration and landscape than FO:NV. I would say that Skyrim is that piece of eyecandy that you never got to bang, but FO:NV is that average looking girl that get to rail all night long on.
