baby in the mouth right now!
I am getting this ''disc is unreadable'' crap.
My skyrim has basically no scratches or smugdes on the CD. But this message pops up every now and again.
The only solution, which is temporary, is to delete all my saves and start a new character.
Is there a way to stop this?

Eject the disc, then reinsert it.
If that does not work, just restart your system.
That is all I have ever had to do... your saves, have nothing to do with your system being able to read a disc, so deleting them is probably the most worthless, and... well... stupidest thing you could do.

I will try it tomorrow. yeah, deleting the saves was pretty stupid. I have no regrets though.

I get this from time to time and my disk is in perfect condition. I'm scared it has more to with the disk drive reading the disk than the disk being messed up. It happens far less after installing the game to my hard drive.

i had this problem with a disc that was scratched to hell. it would not play at all outside of loading to the starting menu screen. i installed the disc (somehow it managed to do that) and then suddenly that scratched to hell disc worked good as new. try installing it. it can work miracles.

I am not changing this signature until I am politely asked to do so by a well mannered gentlemen or lady.

On the contrary, I think punching a baby in the mouth solves
everything.

I had that whenever I used modded saves.
Try putting your saves on a USB?

I usually make a small sacrifice to the gaming gods.
Set fire to an old controller, maybe a broken nintendo cartridge, or in the worst cases, something relevant to the times like a used copy of a current gen game.
I would think deleting all of your saves would be a very good sacrifice. The gaming gods must be crazy.

Whenever I get disc unreadable errors, I eject the tray, blow on it to perhaps clean dust or debris out of it. I then get a small alcohol pad and wipe off the underside of the disc, dry it vertically on my shirt (up and down motions, I heard from a friend a long time ago that it was safer... *shrug*), then put it back into the disc tray and rarely have any other problems from them on.
I always take good care of my game discs too and very seldom buy used games, so it's not often that I run into this. Best of luck to you though.
Oh, and yeah installing has helped me in the past when my used Oblivion copy was refusing to be read. So definitely try that if you haven't already.

thanks for all the help guys! I don't have a hard drive though. I bought the arcade, not knowing the difference. I do have most of games saves(including skyrim) on a usb. I might try moving all of my save to the usb(to save space on the 360) and move skyrim to the xbox itself.

I know it's completely irrelevant, but when this was happening to me, it was just before my (sub par) blu-ray died. Class action lawsuit v SONY though.
Anyway, it's possible your drive is charring/cracking due to overheating. That was my issue.
