damn I'm stuck right at the start, can't absorb dragon souls.

Very 1St dragon fight outside whiterun. To advance the quest need to absorb its soul, and that's not happening!

I've turned it'd the unofficial patches, but turning off the dragoborn dlc causes a ctd. Any other options our likely mods causes please?

Download and install the Dragonborn Unofficial Patch and that will fix the problem

did you walk straight up to the dragon? in my game if iam too far away from the dragon it wont burn away and give me its soul, but if i get up close almost point blank it'll burn and i'll get the soul

also if that doesnt work open the console and type player.forceav dragonsouls 1 and see if that'll complete the quest

Well I turned off likely Mods 5 at a time, then singled in on one - Dragons Diversified, definitely caused this bug.

Wil lreport if it conflicts with other dragons, or just this first one later.

So Dragons Diversified, was the offender for me, but it may be a conflict with another mod perhaps, rather than a fault with it, so might work for you, dont be afraid to try it, still makes dragons fun.

Deffo DD and the problem persists into none scripted dragon encounters. :-(
