*ducks*
NOT trolling.
I bought Skyrim when it first came out and loved it. I was playing on hardest difficulty but soon realised Difficulty, Enchanting & Crafting were broken?
Has there been any patches to fix these things? Tempted to start playing again. Maybe making materials harder to obtain on rare enemies etc..

its not broken, its intended.
LOTS of people like being super overpowered, if they enjoy that, then go ahead.
i play on expert without using smithing or enchanting, and its plenty challenging trust me.

The player using exploits does not make parts of the game broken.
Learn to control your need to be overpowered....and the game will be more difficult.

The thing is, you can be overpowered without exploits. 700 damage weapons? 100% spell cost reduction? 80% Spell absorption + armor cap? None of these things require any exploits at all, even "minor" ones like necormage+vampirism or falmer helmet.
Though I agree, it's up to the player to limits themselves if they feel it's too easy. The best thing you can do is limit yourself to one crafting skill. On their own, Smithing and Alchemy are fine. Enchanting by itself is still stupidly powerful, but not "one-shot everything in the game" stupid.

I enjoyed being OP on my first few characters.
I enjoy the game FAR more now that I don't abuse the crafting skills. Except a little alchemy. Just a little.

Alchemy is the best skill in the game in my opinion, crafting or otherwise. No other skill can do so much. Deals damage (poisons), increases resistances, can turn you invisible, augments other skills, heals you, hurts enemy stamina/magicka, saves money (fortify haggle), versatile (can craft what you want, how you want) etc...
With a good staff, and some scrolls, I believe the "master alchemist" would be an amazingly fun character to play. Lite sneaking skills (for getting around dungeons mostly), some one handed (applying those poisons), speech, and alchemy.
Essentially a normal person trained to be an alchemist. buy a decent staff, and some scrolls and off we go into the dungeons. Bring a torch with you, and dual it with your staff or dagger, if need be.
One of these days I'm gonna get around to that. = /
Race? Imperial. Fits the "normal" dude best in my opinion, and with all the buying of equipment you'll have to do, methinks the extra gold will help. Wears clothing, dabbles in enchanting (mainly with knowledge learned from recharging said staff). Points in Health/stamina on a 1/3 ratio (better to run away with...X D)...
I dunno. That's like my dream build but I never get around to playing it. = (

Thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately i don't have the willpower to not use whats available in the game. I would class what you guys said as "gimping" myself. Also if ppl want to run around OP'd couldn't they turn difficulty to easy?
I guess the game is designed this way for a reason & i'l have to adapt in how i play. I really did enjoy what i played last time.

"Gimping" maybe... but honestly for me it's just variety. I've put more hours in your build than you have (generally, that's true with EVERY build). = )
You can, with minimal work make the game as easy or as hard as you want.
Personally, I like a challenge, and I've had more than enough "supermen" to decide it might be fun as Clark Kent.
