So I'm far enough in the main quest that my current objective is Season Unending/The Fallen and far enough in the Civil War that I'm about to hand the Jagged Crown in. can I just continue with the Civil War and finish it and avoid the peace treaty, or will I have to do the treaty either way? And if so, when is the best time to do Season Unending?

you can do a couple quests in the civil war and still get the peace treaty, i dont remember where the point of no return is.

but if you progress far enough in the civil war (either side) the game will be like "welp, you picked a side, finish it up" and skip the peace summit all together.

im fairly certain you can do the battle of whiterun and then still get the peace treaty though.

If I can avoid doing the peace treaty, I'd prefer it.

then just keep progressing with the civil war for a bit, though you might be in the middle of a funky quest spot if you have both active already.

Sorry but your wording confuses me.
"For a bit" seems to imply that I have to do Season Unending anyways.

If you finish the civil war you're in the clear

The point of no return when you can no longer do the peace treaty is when the oposing faction has only one hold, their main hold.
