Also, on a slightly related note, does Brynjolf actually say anything besides "I'm busy right now lad, we'll talk later" at any point after completing the Theives guild quest?

But on the Eye of the Falmer, it's because he won't buy one of the treasures, if you do all those side things it ends on the last one you collect and that one won't be bought, so if you want to see the eye displayed you have to purposely not get one of the others until after it's done.
I'm pretty sure that's all he says, it's kinda annoying and I make it a point to not walk near him if I can.

The above poster is mostly correct about the larceny items, but not exactly. The issue is the quest (even though it doesn't appear in your log) ends when you pick up the last larceny item. So if you skip one and come back for it later, that one will end the quest (last =/= eye of the falmer). The big issue is that if you hold on to multiple or all the larceny items; picking up the last one will prevent you from turning any more of them in.
I have never heard Brynjolf say anything else.

If you've already done 83 you may as well make this the one game you actually do the 125, it's not like you're ever going to do it again. Just suck it up and get it done.
That's basically what I thought. But I stopped at 100 and took a break. I'm gonna clear out a bunch of stuff I picked up in my Misc list talking to random people while I was doing the guild jobs

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

First opening. Deadly Fear Poison (526), 1600 gold, Philter of Health (311), Philter of Strength (467), a flawless ruby, and a ring of extreme smithing (22% increase)
All in all, underwhelming. Unless the rewards increase over time, I find Prowler's Profit much more useful

yup. i missed the chance to turn in the Bust of the Grey Fox and when i gathered the Eyes and escaped from the watery peril got the message, "completed [turn in] Bust of the Grey Fox," which i am now stuck with forever. but it gives me a place to hang my helm and someone to talk to late at night when i'm on a solo quest and i'm haunted by all the men whose throats i've slit, all the girls i never kissed, and that last charred skeever i 'et before turning in....
