It happens to me a LOT! Between the beauty of the music, the beauty of the landscape, the ambient sounds(rivers, waterfalls, etc..).. Sometimes I completely lose myself while playing and almost forget I'm still in the real world! I usually turn off all lights while playing too, so that helps... Does this happen to anyone else besides me? Of course, I have a strange ability during reading, if its a really good novel, I can "zone out" and actually be unaware of reading the words after an hour of reading, but I didn't think this gift could apply to video games? Perhaps its just Skyrim? This happen to any others out here playing?

Can't say I have, but Skyrim contains more far more beauty than I have immediate access to, so i'm sentimental to the thought.

I've heard a rumor that you're an idiot, any truth to that?

Sometimes I get lost in my lovely Ardwens eyes...
Sometimes I can't remember what drawer I put them in so, they're just lost.

Not usually do I, but the music sometimes makes me fall asleep late at night due to how peaceful it sounds.

The soundtrack is GREAT, it has led to many great mental creations whilst trying to fall asleep.

The last time I lost sense of awareness like that was when I was 9 or 10, playing a Sonic game at a cousins house. It's a very jarring feeling. I took that as a sign to stop playing so much.
Supposedly it's a bad sign, according to the game manuals prior to their extinction these past few years. Stop playing in a dark room. That's your main culprit. You are not suppose to be losing you're sense of self!!

This happened to me when I was younger and playing morrowind. I remember being so into the game that I literally put my hand up to block a tree branch I was about to pass through (in game). That is when I realized I was playing too much.

Just this morning, I was on my way to Riften from Ivarstead. The sun was setting (in game) and the path led through this beautiful bit of forest, with all the leaves bright colors, and I was in complete awe. I live in the bad area of the city so there's literally nothing to look at around here and it just made me wish my outlook on life were a bit better than it was.
Beautiful trees, though.

It's happened to me while playing FO: NV. But, that was when I had pulled an all-nighter to fix my sleep schedule.

I'm with ya TC. I'm an avid reader as well and my imagination can be freaking awesome sometimes. "Zoning out" is a daily pass time for me.

Only 3 games have done that for me, morrowind, oblivion, and now skyrim.. Maybe bethesda really know how to make immersive worlds! First person view helps a lot too..

I'm sorry but no paleface neckbeard on this site has any right to say that to another paleface neckbeard.

It happens to me quite often when I'm playing while, uh, "medicated..."
I remember one time I was in a bow & arrow duel with a Bandit Marauder and we kept dodging each other's arrows... finally I let one fly and got a kill-cam... my heart was beating so hard, despite the fact that I had no chance of even coming close to dying. It was intense.
