Guild association question?

I was wondering if there is a specific order to join the guilds in Skyrim. I remember in Morrowind that I had an issue when I joined the mage guild and did a few quests (later finding out completing one wouldn't let me join the thieves guild).

Please let me know, I *finally* got the game and I don't want to have to revert to some other save if I make this mistake again (last time I lost like, 10 hours of work).

You cant only progress in the Companions quest line if you are a vampire, and you wish to keep it, because !!!SPOILER!!! You become a werewolf in the Companions quest line, but you can become a werewolf, losing your vampirism. !!!!SPOILER END!!!!. But you should be fine for every other guild.
