A great great game...

User Rating: 9 | The Elder Scrolls Online PC

What a superb game. This is the first time I have really played an MMO, and this game kills it. I tried World Of Warcraft sometime ago, and only played an hour, in my opinion it was an appalling game due to the graphics and boring battle system. However with The Elder Scrolls Online, I can’t fine it boring however much I try, and this is the sign of a great game. I love everything about it. I usually get bored on a lot of games, but not this one, I’m hooked and just want to play it. The fact that it is an MMO makes all the difference- I want to progress, I want to make my character stronger, I want to explore and see everything, and that is why I am rating ESO a 9. The journey has just started, and there will be a ton of adventuring to come. Compared to a normal RPG, this game incites some competition, because in the end you are competing with other players. ESO has depth, great graphics, and is definitely a strong game. There is above all so much to do, and fresh content will be added regularly, so there will be always something to do. Furthermore ESO has retained the job system, so you can become a blacksmith, alchemist, enchanter etc., thus a “second” hobby within the game which encourages exploration.

The only critique I can justify is this idea of buying “the imperial edition”. What a clever marketing ploy, since you already pay a subscription every month (and it is worth it…), why leave out a class? This gives the idea that being an imperial is somehow better- don’t fall for it. Yes you get some perks such a nice white horse, but in the end there are plenty of other classes to choose from, so think carefully if you want to be an imperial. However there is an option to upgrade to this edition, if you so choose in the future.

In my opinion, I think anyone interested in RPG’s (or mmo’s…) should give it a go. Luckily you CAN cancel your subscription, so give it a chance and see how you like it for 30 days.
