Greatest RPG to this day!

User Rating: 10 | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion X360
To this day i still believe this to be the greatest role playing game out there. It does everything so right!

Graphics
Ok i am reviewing this game 5 years after its actual release date but doesnt that tell you something? If i'm still playing it! So obviously the graphics now well they're not good. Textures are smooth, grass and trees from distances look relatively 2D. It's not very good but for the size of the game on one disc, i don't know if it could handle more and the engine they were working with back in 2006 obviously was no Crytek :P

Gameplay
That is where this game shines so bright above other RPG's it has some of the best gameplay i have ever seen in a game. It sucks you in and doesn't let you go. You'll say you'll only do one quest or play for 20 minutes but before you know it you've done 20 quests and spent over 3 hours playing. It just sucks you right in. But the amount to do on this game is amazing aswell! Quests range from finding objects to one having you kill members of a club in a house without the other knowing. To assassination missions and much more. I have no idea the amount of quests in this game. There is just so much!

Control
Hmm control can be a bit iffy as it's mostly all melee combat. There is ranged spells and bows but most is clow up melee. It works don't get me wrong. It just seems a bit kind of unbalanced and clunky with you trying to aim the cross hair at your enemy and generally just bashing the RT button. Ranged spells and bow and arrow combat is also hard to get used to. As the cross hair is relativly small and you don't really know how far that arrow can reach. This is maybe just the console version however as aiming with a stick is always going to be harder than with a mouse. Never the less I've still played over 500 hours so it can't really be that bad eh?

Story
There is a story here however I feel it isnt very strong. You don't really feel for the characters involved. I shall not put spoilers in etc but the story is very meh. The side missions etc are where the most fun is at. They are what really make it shine.

Sound
There is some fantastic music in this game. Original music has been composed for Oblivion and it fits wonderfully creating a great atmosphere. The voice acting is also great with people such as Sean Bean voicing their talents. Although after many hours of gameplay you will soon realize the same actors are used for multiple characters throughout the game.

If you haven't already then i really would pick up Oblivion the next opportunity you get. It truthfully is the greatest RPG made in my opinion. If you haven't played it you really are missing out. So go grab a copy you won't regret it.
