Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Secrets

  1. Using the horse, Shadowmere, as movable storage.

Shadowmere is a hero character, meaning that you can not kill him. Since he is an animal you can loot him when he is knocked unconscious. You can also stock up items on him and they will stay on him throughout the game until you knock him out and remove them.
The steps to do this are as follows:
    1. Get Shadowmere (Fort Farrgut) and knock him unconscious (kill him).
    2. When he is laying on the ground you can open his body like any normal corpse.
    3. Place any items you wish to transport into his corpse's inventory.
    4. Let him get up and then go and take him wherever you want.
    5. To get the items back you can knock him out and take them out. They never disappear.
You can have items in him for as long as you want. Even if he respawns back at the Fort Farrgut he will still have your items on him.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Glitches

  1. Horse Shop Gold Glitch (Prepatch)

To do this you need a horse and the more expensive the weapon you wield the better.

So get your most expensive weapon and wield it. Get on your horse and fast travel to either Kvatch to speak to the orc merchant, or to Silver Road in Cyrodill and speak to a merchant in green clothing.

Once you enter the barter screen, sell your equipped weapon. It will not vanish, allowing it to be sold over and over again for gold.

This no longer works after a recent June patch to the game.

  2. Unlimited Gold (Prepatch)

First you have to complete the Cure for Vampirism mission, and talk to The Count, Janus Hassidor. When you talk to him, ask him about the "Reward" conversation option, but don't leave the conversation, and keep asking him about it. Everytime you ask him about it you receive 1000 gold (or more depending on your level). Do this as many times as desired for unlimited gold. Note that a recent June patch has fixed this glitch.
  3. Easy Gold (Prepatch)

Any time after you have finished the tutorial in the imperial sewers at the start of the game, you can kill a specific person and loot unlimited amounts of gold from them. Here's how you do it:

In the Imperial City, Talos district, find a house owned by a person named Dorian, it will be called "Dorian's House". Try to get him angry enough with you via threatening him. Once he has a low enough disposition (lower than 20) with him, he will ask you to leave. At this point kill him and go to loot his body. He should have around 40 gold and some other misc items. LOOT ALL THE ITEMS FIRST leaving the gold, DO NOT LOOT ALL. When you go to take the gold, it will glitch and keep allowing you to take the gold off him. Make sure he doesn't leave or alerts any of the guards and save before attempting this. After about an hour of hitting the same button, I had 150k gold. Note: You can bribe him before doing this glitch and you'll make more gold. This no longer works after a recent June patch to the game.

  4. Item Dupe (Prepatch)

    1)Equip ANY set of arrows.

2)Draw your bow back, while its drawn back press B to go to your inventory screen.

3)Click on the arrows you have equipped with A and then on any other set of arrows you own and press A twice.

4)Now find an item you wish to clone and drop it. This doesn't work with every item.

Note that a recent June patch fixed this glitch.

  5. Paintbrush Glitch

Paintbrushes have no physics applied to them. By none, I mean none. When you drop them out of your inventory, they stay in thin air. They cannot be moved or blown away by spells/arrows.

Well, paintbrushes can be walked on.
You can jump onto a paintbrush (there is a small sphere of invisible walkable surface area). Drop another paintbrush infront of you, and you have a second step.
You can make a staircase of paintbrushes and, ideally, reach any point of the game. The catch? It's not easy to pull off.
If you jump too far, you'll be on the steep side of the walking area and won't be able to jump to the next paintbrush. Also, the walkable area is very small.

This glitch can get you high places like the top of a castle, high in the air randomly, or even on top of the Imperial Palace (watch out, the roof isn't solid, you need to stand on one of the things that stand up out of it).

  6. Item Duplication(Pre Patch)

    1. Pull out any weapon(including fists)
    2. Attack(Pull right Trigger)
    3. Switch to inventory before attack ends(B button/red)
    4. Equip any set of arrows and press A until a message, "You cannot change weapons while attacking" appears.
    5. Drop Item you wish to Dupe
    6. Exit Inventory and collect Duplications.

    Note:
~The following cannot be duplicated; Stolen goods, one-of-a-kind items(Normally named something), Nirnroot, & Quest Items.
~The number of arrows in the set you equip will be how many the item becomes(at least)

  7. Infinite Arrows

Equip any set of arrows, go into any area of the game (preferably an enclosed area, like a fighter's guild basement), take out any bow, and hold R to keep an arrow in your bow. Now, you have to be a journeyman(?) of acrobatics, but if you can combat roll, that's what you need to do this trick. Hold L, press Y, and move in any direction to roll. You will hear the arrow fly, but it will not decrease in your inventory. Go forth and pick up your dupe arrow. Repeat as many times as you like.
  8. Repeairing/recharging items without the use of gems, hammers, or merchants

This glitch allows you to easily repair and/or recharge items (armor, weapons, and staves) without having to carry around hundreds of pounds of hammers and soul gems, or having to visit a merchant in town all the time.
    STEPS:
    1: Have any item
2: Duplicate the item so you have two of them (or just buy an exact duplicate, but rare items have to purchasable duplicates)
3: While the items are UNequipped, go to the menu and hotkey them (there should be 2 of them) to any one of the hotkeys.
4: Use item to your heart's content (damage the item in some way)
5: Unequip the item using the hotkey button again. Then press the hotkey button one more time to re-equip it.

The item has been repaired and recharged. Go to your item menu to check it out for yourself. This works unlimited times, and as long as the item can be duplicated (or you can buy an exact duplicate) it should work.

  9. Duplication AFTER Shivering Isles Patch

You may use a sword or your bare hands, it does not matter which. You MUST have more scrolls than the number of items you want to dupe for this to work. *Example* If you have 5 Strong Healing Potions, you MUST have at least six or more scrolls to dupe them.

    1. Pull out a sword then go to your menu in mid-swing.

    2. Go to your scrolls section, and choose a scroll that you have multiples of, then click on them TWICE. You will NOT get a message like the other duping messages.

    3. Drop the item you wish to dupe, and have fun!

  10. Keeping Boots of Springheel Jack.

During the last mission for the thieves guild, right before taking the drop, stop and head back down the tower the way you came. When you get to the original way you got into the tower (the fireplace in the Imperial Guardsmans sleeping quarters), activate the fireplace. It should give you the next part of the quest without dropping you into the hole. On this level of the tower, without going any higher, find an Imperial Guardsman and attack him, or be spotted by him. This should trigger the regular "Go to Jail, Resist Arrest, Pay Fines" dialog. Just pay your fines, and get teleported back out of the tower and in front of the castle. Both the Elder Scroll and the Boots should be in your inventory, and you should still be on the next part of the quest to head back to Gray Cowl. In my opinion, it's easier than trying to survive the fall.

MoveTo ObjREFmove target to ObjREF. You might enlist 'frequently visited' ObjREFs for further fast-travel, or even create your own 'places' by dropping items..
SetAV AValue Amountset some ability or skill (AValue to be Marksman, LightArmor, etc.) Also not-so obvious values are: Aggression, Energy, Confidence, Responsibility..
SetAV Aggression 100target should attack anybody it doesn't like, without prompt
SetCrimeGold 2000set a bounty on actor's head. Use upon a character you want punished by guards. Also should be funny using it on town guards themselves.

DeleteFullActorCopyremoves selected target if it was a copy created with CreateFullActorCopy (Now, after you had plenty fun with your replica, it's time to release it)
DuplicateAllItems DestinationObjREFcopy items from target actor (or chest or other container) into object referenced by DestinationObjREF.
RemoveAllItemsremove all items from target. Use Player.RemoveAllItems to strip off any stolen and not stolen goods from yourself.
PRID Playerselect yourself as a target. In theory, one can also select other named objects, but for now other names are unknown.
Look ObjREFtarget looks towards referenced object
StopLooktarget stops looking (this is to cancel any previous Look cheat)
Drop TypeREF Amountan item of given type drops out from selected target's inventory. Item is treated owned by target, so you will steal it on picking up
UnEquipItem TypeREFtarget deactivates an item of given type (may be used to disarm or undress target).
SetBarterGold Amountsets amount of gold a merchant has for trade. (don't forget to first select any merchant as a target :J)
    ShowSpellMakingForces up spell creation screen
KillallKills Everything Where You Are (If You Are In A Town Outside It Kills Everything Outside)
    lock [value]Lock a door
    tmm 1Shows all map markers
setweight XXXSets the item's weight to XXX
    Player.killKills yourself
  2. Unlock Print Screen (PRTSCN) button

There is a setting in the INI file:
    bAllowScreenShot=0

    change to:
    bAllowScreenShot=1

Also, two related items for the screenshots:
    iScreenShotIndex=0
    SScreenShotBaseName=Oblivion

There are two INIs, one in the game folder called "Oblivion_default.ini", this is the one it uses to generate the REAL one....
    My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini

Edit the first one if you want to default to having screenshots on by default for all users. The settings it uses at runtime are the ones from My Documents folder.

After you mod the INI file, you can press PRTSCN button and Oblivion will write a BMP file to your game folder.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Secrets

  1. Need a spot to hold all that extra gear? Use your horse!

First you must complete the Dark Brotherhood quests up until you receive Shadowmare as a reward. Shadowmare is special in that he cannot be killed (only knocked unconscious). Knock Shadowmare unconscious (you don’t need to be quick about it, he won’t fight back). As soon as he drops, you are given the option to access his body via the spacebar. Open him up and dump your extra junk into him (open him then go to your inventory button and single click items to move them over). Shadowmare will pop back up after a few seconds, and you’ll both be good to go.

Whenever you need to access your gear, simply knock him out again. I’ve used this trick for a while, and it appears that Shadowmare has no weight limit, and items remain forever. This trick won’t work on normal horses because they die (and ~ resurrect clears their inventory).

Sometimes after Shadowmare wakes up, he begins to slowly walk away, to stop this, jump on him and quick transport to a location; this fixes him. Also, be careful not to get onto a regular horse, this messes up your “tie” to Shadowmare, and is a good way to accidentally lose him (not sure where he defaults to).

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Glitches

  1. Infinite Money Trick 2 (Pre-patch)

First, goto the Imperial City Talos Plaza District. Then, open your map (the one that shows the names of all the buildings in your current location), and find Dorian's house. Go inside his house and bribe him all the money you can, then make him upset by making disposition going down by playing the disposition mini game, and repeat the bribing process. Once you've bribed him a good amount of money, such as 1000 Gold, kill him as fast as you can.

A good way to kill him without allowing him to run away is to push him in the other room and stand in the doorway while attacking him. After he's dead, goto his body and keep clicking on his gold. DO NOT select "Take All" as it will ruin the glitch, just keep clicking his gold. You'll get the amount of gold he has on his body every time you click it, and he will never run out of it.

  2. Infinite Money 3 (Vampire cure quest)

    (Origional release version)
At the very end of the quest to cure Vampirism, the count of Skingrad (the last person talked to in the quest) will reward you (if you are a full vampire, or not) with 1,000 gold (or more depending on your level).
If you continue again to click on the message that asks about a reward, he will keep giving 1,000 gold.
  3. Item Duplication (Pre-patch)

First you need a bow, some arrows, and the item you wish to duplicate. Using this will allow you to duplicate as many items as the number of items in your quiver.

First take out your bow and equip some arrows. Pull back the arrow but do not fire it. Press tab and double click on the arrows you currently have equiped. Then shift click the item you wish to duplicate. Once you exit out the menu the item would drop but it will be the same amount of items as your arrow. To better help yourself duplicate things it is advised to have a couple of the item you wish to duplicate so that you can pick them up faster if you have a ton of arrows. This trick works well with things that weigh very little but are great in value such as soul gems and jewelry.

  4. Permanent +50 to Acrobatics (Springheel Jack glitch)

First you need to get the Thieves Guild quest "Boots of Springheel Jack" and complete the majority of the quest, retrieving the Boots. Do not, however, return the boots to the Grey Fox.

Upon obtaining the Boots, equip them to get a +50 Acrobatics bonus, then travel to the Shrine of Sanguine and begin the Daedric Quest there. Follow through that quest, and allow yourself to be arrested by Leyawiin guards when they try. All your possesions will be taken, except for key items (which include the Boots).

Stay your time in jail, and upon exiting, check your inventory. You should still possess the boots, but when you try to equip them the game will tell you "You cannot equip this item at this time". However, if you check your current enhancements, the +50 to Acrobatics will still be there! You can now wear other footwear, but still have the bonus from the Boots of Springheel Jack!

PS3 Hints & Cheats

GameSpot Walkthroughs

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Glitches

  1. Item Duplication

To duplicate your items in the PS3 version of Oblivion do the following:
    1) Get two (or more) magic scrolls of the same type (the number of items you duplicate will be the number of scrolls you have).
    - The scrolls must NOT be stolen
    2) Click on the scroll twice.
    3) Then drop the item from your inventory that you want duped.
    4) Exit inventory and collect your items.

    Notes:
    - Certain weapons and armor won't work
    - The health of the item must be 100 (Get it repaired by an NPC just to be safe)
    - The charge on a magical item must be full

  2. Sneak Master Glitch

Just like in the PC and 360 version, you can easily get Master Sneak level for some all out plundering and assassinating fun.

To do this, simply find a door that doesn't take you to a loading screen when opening it (Fort Urasek has a perfect place for this). Simply go in to sneak, and walk against the door and your level will increase so long as you are not heard. This means that if you are below Journeyman if you sneak too fast you will be heard. All you'll have to do is sneak off until you hear the fight music turn off, then sneak back over and continue.

I used a paperclip to hold my joystick forward so I didn't have to hold it myself, and checked back once an hour or half hour to hit X when I got to each next Sneak level, and by morning I was a Master.

This opens up plundering fools like no other, as well as most enemies you can keep hitting for 6X damage. If they have high security, or another enemy sees you whacking away at 'em you stand a chance of getting caught, but if you keep sneaking, or better yet put on an invisible spell potion, you can sneak away and they'll lose track of you. I've found that high damage bow and arrow combinations are the best way to never get caught.

  3. Shadowmere Storage

After acquiring Shadowmere, knock her unconcious. Then search the horse, go to your inventory, and you can place items on her. When you want to retrieve them or place more, just knock her out again.
  4. Getting out of Anvil

To get out of Anvil go to the house with the broken box in front of it. Then jump onto it and then the house. Let your fatique get almost full and get to the part with the wood sticking out. Get a running start and jump on the edge of the next house, but keep running otherwise you will fall, and walk around on the edge until you get on top of the house. Once on top, run and jump until you reach the last house. Jump on top of the brick thing (forgot what its called) then get full fatique again. Run and jump onto the wall surrounding the town. Go to the left until you hit the post type thing and jump over the wall on to a crack or part sticking out (so you won't die from the jump). Slowly go down the wall until you hit the ground outside of Anvil. There will be many "holes" in the ground don't worry you will not fall and die. If done correctly you should be out of Anvil.

Note: I did this with a level 11 high elf with 65 acrobatics.
