If you are willing to look past some problems, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is an exceptional title to play.

Good:
-Large, beautiful, unique landscapes
-Immense amount of role-playing immerses you into the game.
-Excellent amount of customization to your character.
-Beautifully recorded soundtrack immerses you further into the game.

Bad:
-Even when fully patched, there is still a lot of bugs and to desktop crashes.
-Ugly models coupled with horrible animations clashes horribly with the beautiful landscapes.
-Combat system leaves a lot to be desired for.
-Starts off horribly slow.

Firstly to start off I'm going to make a statement that The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is a very ambitious game, and it definitely shows. Every nook and cranny of this game is dedicated to providing you with an adventure. Unlike most games of its era where you had to go along with a set of events with little to no say on how you'd do so, Morrowind is completely different as the game bends towards your preference.

Would you be a fearless knight valiantly defending the land against the forces of evil? Or would you be a cunning ranger, raining death upon your enemies with your extensive amount of weaponry? Or will you be the magi that will smite down score after score of monsters? Or will you be the outlaw killing and looting as you please, while being resented by the general population and the ever vigilant guards? The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is choke full of player-choice that there is no correct way to actually play through this adventure but it is all up to you to decide on how the story pans out.

To further aid in immersing yourself into the experience is the impressive landscapes which are all equally unique and beautiful and sets the atmosphere for the area extremely well. The environments are complimented with an expertly composed soundtrack, which only improves the already incredible amount of immersion in this game.

However while The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is a very ambitious game, there is sadly a lot of problems with the game. Such as how buggy the game is as even though the copy I played on was fully patched, there were still bugs littered throughout the game and I still suffered crash to desktop every so often.

And while the environments are beautiful, the same could not be said about the models and animation which are ugly and awfully primitive looking which is extremely strange considering the incredible graphic prowess of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind which are shown in the long draw distances and the pixel shaded lighting and water.

Also the Achilles' heel of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind lies within its horrible combat system, which is the most unsatisfying I've ever seen in any RPG. The combat feels horrible as the attacking animations are extremely mechanical and is repeated so many times that if there was even a 'wow' factor to it, it would have become tiring to look at 10 minutes into the game. It is also worth noting that with melee combat especially that you really don't feel like you're hitting anything but rather waving your sword in front of your enemy until he/she falls down.

Overall its an exceptional title and a worthy nominee for the RPG Hall of Fame. I'd wholeheartedly recommend The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind to any RPG fan or Action-Adventure fans.
