Enthralling melee combat with finishing moves that leave you tingling.

User Rating: 8 | The Cursed Crusade PC
I think this is probably the most underappreciated game this year. Ratings of the masses havent done justice to this title. I delve into any title that has a medieval setting with swords, shields, maces, halberds and like items. This one caught me by surprise. The gameplay is smooth and the combinations of weapons and moves seems endless especially trying to memorize them to get all the way down the combination line to the finishing move...which after the first one I did was what absolutely grabbed me and captivated me for the next several hours. Hack and slash hack and slash but then finish by ramming a sword through your opponent and kicking his body off your sword? Or decapitation? Or chopping off a leg and flinging your opponent sideways. I havent enjoyed a sword style game this much since Die by the Sword back in 1998. The cursed crusade still entertains me after so many kills, level after level! Each level has a cinematic opening that carries you further down the story line and I think it's rather well done. You play through the campaign with a companion that often cracks jokes, watches your back, and can set you up for some lethal finishers. I dropped the rating on this game down because you bounce between regular knight's templar and a cursed superhuman throughout the game. I'd rather have had it just the knight's templar because being cursed seemed to detract more than enhance my gameplay.
