Good Review Tom. This game sucks. I want it though, for collection purposes.

I'm sure I'm going to get a ton of crap for my Halo comment. I'm going to get tons of fanboys saying, "Well, now look who's talking, Mr. HaloOverrated".
I think Halo is decent, but not great. And I'm open about it, too.
I could go on and on about how Halo is the Avatar of gaming, but why should I bother...

I mean, if this was on a system that has a hard time supporting FPS's (like the DS, for example), then this would be perfectly fine.
The Wii can do way better shooters than this. Modern Warfare, Black Ops, and GoldenEye are perfect examples of this.

However, this is HVS's first full Wii game, so I guess it's good enough.

Something that you guys really need to realize:
He's not saying that it's a bad game.
He's saying that paying $50 for it is ridiculous, when there's nothing special about it. Everything about this game has been done before A LOT better by another FPS from the past.
Games shouldn't be judged based on what system they're on. The whole "good for a Wii game" thing is getting really old.

However, I have to admit, I hate how nearly all the critics (including ones from GameSpot) praise Halo's gameplay, when it's really not that much different from this. I mean, yeah, it has much larger environments and better level designs, but the gameplay still doesn't really have much depth at all.

What really hurts this game is the online. It's nearly unplayable now. However, it wasn't that bad during the time of the review.

Looking back on this game, the only part of the review where I disagree is the story. Most of it is repetitive, yes, but there are some pretty awesome twists that I didn't predict at all.
While I almost completely agree with the rest of the review, I think most of those gameplay-related complaints can be leveled towards Halo. Both are run here, shoot there - type games.

The problem with the people who commented on this review, and the fans of this game, is that they praised this game simply because it was one of the best shooters on Wii at the time. One thing that I respect about this guy is that he compares it to FPS's in general, rather than just saying, "Oh, it has no depth or originality, but it's still good for a Wii FPS." (Cough, IGN, cough.)
Imagine if people gave The Legend of Zelda: Wand of Gamelon decent reviews, just because it's one of the better games on the CDi. Just because the Wii is in need of quality FPS's (or at least it was at the time) doesn't warrant The Conduit a good review.

Wait, advertised and described as an award winning shooter, one of the wii's best shooters by gamespot, and they give it 6.5? strange

Apparently, Van Ord is not the only bad reviewer GameSpot has. While Tom makes some good points (totally agree with the irritating spawn portals, poor multiplayer, as well as the compliment on excellent controls), he's seriously wrong when he says the game is boring. It's true it's not a run n shoot game like you'd expect from Quake, Doom or even Unreal, but it's not as slow and tactical as Ghost Recon either. Personally, I found it meets a healthy middle ground, and had great fun exploring the levels for the hidden disks, and working on the unlockables. The levels are also not as repetitive as he claims, however, they are very constricted in terms of size, so don't expect the same freedom to move around as you get, say, in Halo. Personally, considering it's on the Wii and all, I believe a 7 or 7.5 would give this game justice (incidently, the average score from other review sites is also around that number), but an 8 might be pushing it. It's definitely a "good" game, but just shy of "great".

Not for nothing, but I think the reviewer is TOTALLY onpoint. I could not have said it any better.

The mechanics were, yeah good, but dude, the freaking levels, repetitive, and what MOST pissed me off was SUCH a stupíd ending. This is one of the games with the stupídest endings EVER.
    What a freaking lame ending...pathetic!!!!!

I think this game deserves at the least an 8.5. the game has an ok story, great graphics if generic design, great controls and a fun single and multiplayer. Btw i love the tiny visual effects of the alien guns

I'm sorry, but it looks like hes reading of a script when you see his face. I have a feeling that this reviewer was taught to hate good games as a child...

No No No this reviewer has it all wrong. The truth is really the oposite of how he sees it.
He thinks: good review, bad game
We think: BAD review, Good game
