great controls don't make a great shooter!

User Rating: 6 | The Conduit WII
I really enjoyed The Conduit when I first started playing. Great controls, not despite but BECAUSE of the Wii's motion controls, make shooting bad guys and aliens a lot of fun.
But controls aren't everything. Repetitive levels and stupid AI turn this into nothing but a chore after a while. The story is unoriginal right down to the usual good guys turning into bad guys and vice versa.
The difficulty is all over the place. While you start out on something you have to call mega-easy-setting you later have to die numerous deaths in almost undoable passages (and I'm not talking boss fights). And right after you just breeze through the corridors again. Inconsistent.
As the story won't help you stick with the game in the slightest, you will get bored after a few hours of the repetitive gameplay.
Was glad I rented this title. The follow-up has just come out and from what I hear is quite an improvement. Will have to check it out as the shooting in The Conduit is brilliant and I would like to play a game that utilises that and makes it fun.
See you in The Conduit 2.
