Assault on Dark Athena sees the great comeback of Vin Diesel as the main protagonist and the voice acting will recharge you as Vin Diesel shoots in cheesy threats here and there. The best one being at the end of the game where Vin says, "When I say goodbye, it is forever". This line comes in after the main villain is killed.
The game is more shooter than its predecessors' silent killing type. The mechanized sequences of the game where you jump in the armor of a heavy unit and blast your way through the game's levels is fun and improvises over the excess sneaking around of the first game. Assault on Dark Athena makes you run through darkest vents and corridors to open areas that involve straight up shooting against a ton of enemies. The firepower in the guns is just right.
In the end close to the last 3 missions of the game you feel like the game kind of loses steam for a bit as you go room after room clearing out enemies that you just cleared in the previous room. Gets a bit repetitive. The lighting effects in the open areas are still cool as previous one and the eye shine ability is made of good use again in this one. Of course you will have plenty a share of those silent kills that you would love. The main villain feels less powerful though & that takes the charm out of the last battle.
Overall give it a shot. Definitely worth playing.
