Nice little game with lots of puzzles

User Rating: 8 | The Ball PC
The Ball was originally intended as a Unreal 3 Mod but it evolved into a separate game .It uses Unreal 3 technology and it is a small budget game but surprisingly good.Graphics are kind of old for a 2010 game but still decent.Sound is good and the game is quite atmospheric. This is a puzzle-solving game with no weapons(except for the ball which can be used as a weapon). It has certain similarities with Portal but the puzzles here are more easy to solve though they can be quite challenging at times. You can press the H key for some tips of what you have to do next so you shouldnt have any problems. There are 8 big levels in the game made by small puzzle-solving areas and corridors you have to pass through for advancing into the next area.At the beginning of the game you start as a nameless man who has falling down into a cavern inside a mountain in Mexico. You are trapped in there and it seems that the only way out is going down through a series of caves inside the mountain.Soon you realize that you have discovered a huge caving system in the volcanic mountain. You find an ancient artifact named The Ball which helps you go further and open ancient doors that normally you cant open. You move the ball with The Hammer and you dont have any weapons. You fight with mummies, bugs, giant worms,a giant monkey and some big monsters in the last two levels of the game. This game reminds me of older Unreal games like Return to Na Pali which was very good. The 8 levels of the game are:Pehua(with some small puzzles),Oztoc 1( more puzzles in water areas and the first mummies appear),Oztoc 2,Teotl 1,Teotl 2( bigger puzzles and the game lets you choose the order to solve them),Hueca(cool level with 3 pyramids and a lot of puzzles) ,Cahua 1( lots of lava and fights with big monsters) and Cahua 2( with nice puzzles and the final fights). The ending is pretty good and interesting.I felt i was playing a nice little game.Enjoy!
