Come on, it's not all that bad.

Well what would you expect from an arcade poker game? I mean this game has all the essentials that any poker player would need. Obviously one would want more than just the bare minimum but it's an arcade game, not a full blown game with a career that puts you up against the pros. However Texas Hold'em does offer more than moderately entertaining scenarios that put you in somewhat interesting and fun positions that either gear you up against the chip leader when you're shortstacked or get you heads up in the final table of a huge tournament. The scenarios can get exciting if you get extremely into the game but if you're not a huge poker fan then you won't get more than two hours of quality play from this game.
In addition to the scenario mode, there is another single player mode that lets you play in tournaments against the computer but the more prestigious the tournament the higher the buy-in so if you lose in a huge tournament that requires a $10,000 buy-in then you pretty much feel like completely giving up on the game. However entering a huge tournament like that does add an excitement factor while you play but like I said, you probably won't get into the game enough to reach that type of bankroll.
As a poker fan I think this is a good game and offers the essentials and a bit more. If you are not a poker fan I strongly recommend not to get this game and just play with your buddies because this game will disappoint you with it's boring, monotonous, and extremely repetitive game play. But keep in mind, it is just an arcade poker game after all. Sure it's not the most exciting game but is poker ever all that exciting when your money is not on the line? It's arcade video game poker. Give Texas Hold'em a break.
