Test Drive 6 Still Picks Up the Greatness of Test Drive 5, But a Little Bit Behind, and Underrated

User Rating: 9.6 | Test Drive 6 PS
Test Drive 5, bar nun, was one of my favorite games on the PlayStation growing. I had this title on Dreamcast first before getting it on PS1. The PS1 is slightly better than the Dreamcast version. Test Drive 6 is a fun continuation to Test Drive 4 and 5. Test Drive 6 has a wide selection of cars like Test Drive 5, several exotic ones. For the first time, it has a career mode, and the career mode is hard and fun at the same time. It's a lot of races though. As an underrated title, I enjoyed this, I can't get enough out of it.

The gameplay is good, the racing is slightly better than Test Drive 5 because in TD5, the opponents are always going to win no matter what, in TD6, you get a change to win against them. You also have Cop Chase and Cup Racing, but no drag racing? Also, no Chevy cars.

The graphics are as good as TD5, a little lower, but one thing I do have to say is that some levels have some choppy looks to them, but the designs of the cars are quite nice and a little more bright than the previous games. The backgrounds are a bit cheesy, but the designs of them look pretty good.

The sound of the game has a great soundtrack, but recycled car sounds from Test Drive 5. But that's okay, but not too original. The soundtrack has several good songs from good bands, Fear Factory returns here with their rendition of Gary Numan's "Cars." It's more metal and fast-paced. You also have artists like Gearwhore, Lunatic Calm, Cirrus, Empirion, Eve 6, and Kottonmouth Kings. Several courses, a lot of circuit courses from Test Drive 5 that are slightly redesigned, and they loose the feel of what they were on Test Drive 5. It is addictive if you are a TD fan, and I think everyone should give it a try.

Is Test Drive 6 bad like others say? No. Is Test Drive 6 better than its predecessor? No. Is it very fun and worth it? Yes.
