- Feb 16, 2013 9:16 pm GMTI have a 32 slayer and since about 21 this is how I've gotten quite a few levels. This is probably the most fun I've had in an MMO solo since I can remember. It is immensely challenging the further I level (each new BAM type offers its own challenges and takes more to kill and hits harder). I know they arent necessarily meant to be solo'd but it is incredibly satisfying to do so. Especially since, with a slayer anyway, the game plays like a console action game in a lot of ways.
That said, what other classes are good at this? I've been leery about checking out other classes because I'm worried they'll be more group dependent. I'd assume maybe a Lancer or warrior, but what about the others?

http://picard.ytmnd.com/ - Feb 16, 2013 9:26 pm GMTberserkers are great at soloing BAMs imo, as long as you keep you axe updated enough to be able to fully block (atleast most of) the attacks, then you just take turns slugging each other in the face untill one of you falls over, and in this case hopefully not you.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/laughing-skull/Elementstorm/advanced - Feb 16, 2013 9:35 pm GMTwarriors, lancers and berzerkers can do them well, and i've read that all the other classes are capable of soloing BAMs
just a matter of skill

Parachutes are for Girls. - Feb 16, 2013 9:37 pm GMTSoloing BAMs as Lancer feels exactly the same as fighting with a party, which is to say: extremely easy. Never get hurt, Second Wind and block better if you do. Just takes longer to kill.
- Feb 16, 2013 10:00 pm GMTSolo'ing BAMs is the closest I'll get playing Monster Hunter Frontier without jumping through weird hurdles to play it. It really gives me a drive to even bother with Tera sometimes.
There is also those moments where you sometimes have a crowd of people watching you solo a BAM (probably expecting you to die from doing something so "foolish"
but then you get that final killing blow and collect your loots, dat feeling.

You know what happens to me is they wait till they see he's about to die and then decide to jump in and help. Its like you stood there and watched for the first 80% now you think I need help?

http://picard.ytmnd.com/ - Feb 16, 2013 10:36 pm GMTHeh yeah those moments are funny too. Another is when I used to solo lower level BAMs around my level, nearly the end of the fight some lv.60 Berserker just comes by and one-shots them.
They probably think they're helping or some maybe just are trolling outright but still but it's pretty annoying in a funny way. It's like they just come by and be like "N00b, kill it faster next time." or something, lol.

If they wait until he's right about to die they are probably dumb and were trying to steal it. They can't steal it if you did more than 51% of the damage though. If they wait until you have at least done 51% or more of the damage, then they are actually trying to help you. - Feb 17, 2013 2:07 am GMTI've seen some good Sorcs and Archers solo BAMs pretty easily. Obviously it's a bit more difficult for them, as they need to constantly be aware of their positioning, and try not to get stuck while casting, but if they're skilled enough they're just as good as any other class.
Warrior is also really good at soloing BAMs. Mine is level 30 atm, and I have no issues with soloing them, unless I start to lag (which means I can't block properly). Basically, any class that has a blocking skill equates to easy fights, you just need to learn when to block and when to get a few hits in.

PSN: Haker10201 - Feb 17, 2013 9:08 am GMTI tried to solo everything on my Sorc back when the game first launched, it's really damn hard for some types though. (**** you giant Geodudes)
Lancer and Warrior are herp-a-derp though.

Lancers aren't herp-a-derp, they need to time their blocks perfectly to avoid running out of Resolve.

Playing Dark Souls and Baldur's Gate Trilogy right now. - Feb 17, 2013 12:17 pm GMTlmao no they dont, lancers have a million ways to generate resolve, the resolve bar may as well not be there. it's warriors who have to be careful with resolve

Granted, the last time I was on my Lancer was like 8 months ago, but I doubt it's become THAT much more difficult.

http://gamercards.exophase.com/204819.png http://raptr.com/badge/Mistilteinn/fs_lastplayed.png - Feb 17, 2013 6:58 pm GMTYou only ever run out of Resolve if you simultaneously
A) Forget Second Wind exists
B) Never attack (in which case you'll probably lose hate before Resolve)
C) Literally hold down rightclick (or whatever) forever
This is not hyperbole: if you run out of Resolve on Lancer, you have done something very wrong. You hardly need "perfect" timing when you can cancel most attacks into blocking and can sacrifice a tick or two of Resolve if you're unsure. - Feb 17, 2013 8:19 pm GMTNOT mystic.. in fact, just about anything but mystic. not saying a mystic can't do it, just that you may die of sleep deprivation first.

My god, trying to solo on Mystic was the most boring thing I've ever done.
