User Rating: 9.1 | Tekken Tag Tournament (Platinum) PS2
Well, after not touching the Tekken series for well over 2 years, this was indeed a nice refreshment. As expected, many of the old characters came back, same type of menu, and overall style. After 3 years the graphics are still something to be impressed about. All of the character models are ultra smooth and nice full 3D backgrounds to go along with it. Adding the element of tagging in another player back and forth was a sweet edition to this Tekken game. While playing other live people it adds a major amount of suspense and excitement to it, or at least I felt that way. The game is consisted of a large cast; unfortunately many of the unlocked characters are stupid things such as a Panda, Bear, Dinosaur etc. However, there are still plenty of really great characters to select from. Probably the biggest problem I have with this game is the music. Most of it I can deal with, but the song played in the school and snow level just drives me mad. I suppose if you're into bad techno, you'll get into this soundtrack. Most of it is decent, but nothing to brag about. Tekken Tag Tournament had a nice amount of added bonuses. You unlock a theater to re-watch movie clips or listen to music. There is also a mini bowling game which is pretty fun. Tekken Tag adds up to be one really great game that shouldn't be overlooked by the average gamer. If you haven't played the previous Tekken games you're in for an amazing game, that statement stays true for even those familiar with the predecessors. At 20 dollars, this game is well worth its buy.
