WARNING: Equipping DLC character moves for Combot can break your save!

This apparently can happen on both the XB360 and the PS3 versions.

Now that the problem is known, I'm sure it'll be fixed by the time the DLC characters are released (if not sooner), but if you have any of the DLC characters early (from pre-order bonuses), it's definitely something you'll want to keep in mind, if you're thinking about customizing Combot's moveset.

Unless I'm mistaken, if you don't have access to the characters, you don't have access to their moves. So if you don't have any of the DLC characters, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Me, for example, I don't have any of the DLC characters, and I don't think I've seen any of their moves available for Combot, so even though I've customized Combot a lot, I haven't had any problems.

No, I'm pretty sure you can play through Fight Lab. Just don't equip any moves from Ancient Ogre, Angel, Kunimitsu, or Michelle (the picture next to each move shows which character the move comes from, so be watchful for their pictures).

Yes, you can customize Combot with a selection of moves from other characters, to create your own unique fighting style.

Playing through Fight Lab earns you points, which you can use to purchase moves. After a move has been purchased, you can equip it.

The World Tekken Federation seems to be updating their sticky topic with new information as they get it, so that might be a good place to keep up to date on the newest info, but based on what I've heard so far, the only time people have gotten their save corrupted is after they equipped a move from a DLC character. Everything else seems to be perfectly safe, as long as you don't equip one of those moves.
