She's acts like the most stereotypical Japanese girl ever, combined with the fact that she exclusively speaks Japanese throughout all of her appearances. Same with Alisa being Russian despite the fact that she is about as anime as you can get in terms of design, voice and personality.

Yeah because stereotypical Japanese girls hang out with Pandas. For all you know she could be speaking broken Japanese like how Shampoo from Ranma 1/2 does. I guess you want her to dress and act like Chairman Mao or something.

No. I'm saying she acts very much like a Japanese girl you would see in about a million anime series. The fact that she only speaks Japanese furthers that.

Maybe because her best friend Miharu is Japanese, and she has a crush on Jin who is Japanese, and she lives in Japan (well she's studying there), so it makes her really japanese.

I am half German, half Japanese as well, I speak English and Mandarin perfectly but my German and Japanese is TERRIBLE >_<

She migrated to Japan in Tekken 3 and never looked back apparently.

So tell me... How exactly is a Chinese immigrant who has lived several years in Japan is supposed to act?

People adopt the mannerisms of the countries they live in and frankly Xaioyu acted like that even before she migrated to Japan.

Nope. Chinese name. Chinese outfit. Chinese fighting style.

She isn't an immigrant. She just currently resides in Japan. Lee is a Chinese immigrant, however.

Except he was adopted by Heihachi as a child.

But Lee was born in China and is ethnically Chinese. He's lived in Japan his whole life (well, earlier life anyways, he now lives in the Bahamas) and officially identifies himself as Japanese. Xiaoyu is still officially considered to be Chinese and has only lived in Japan for the last few years.

tvtropes themselves even described Xiaoyu as being the most "stereotypical Japanese girl ever". I think that supports my point.

How exactly? neither you or the article are giving any real specifics as to why she apparently a Japanese sterotype. What because she a hyperactive schoolgirl? well guess what in spite of what anime would have you believe such people do exist outside of Japan, shocking I know.

Like others have said Chinese name, Chinese fighting style, Chinese themed customizations, Chinese phrases, a qipao-based costume, a pet panda, what more do you want?

Actually speaking of her name does anyone know why it is she only Chinese character that has her Surname first and what would happen to it if she were to marry someone not Chinese say Jin, would it become Kazama Xiaoyu or be switched around to match her husbands?

Theres more than just Japanese people in Japan.

Thats the simple realistic answer that no body has the common sense to think.

I think she definitely has, or had, the Chun-Li/Xianghua cute Chinese gal thing. But yeah, she's pretty much lost all that, and has become a stereotypical wacky, energetic Japanese schoolgirl.

In regards to Chinese full names it would normally go family name then your first name. Don't know why they put her surname first in English though as the same rules don't apply.

So, not entirely sure. I guess it's because it sounds nicer that way xD
