Basically Tekken 5 on the PSP... with a few enjoyable extras!

User Rating: 9.8 | Tekken: Dark Resurrection PSP
I have both Tekken 5 and Tekken Dark Resurrection and they are pretty much the same game so if you have both a PS2 and a PSP, I will advise you to go for this version. Tekken Dark Resurrection is basically Tekken 5 with a lot of extras; they should rename it Tekken 5.1. Those extras include:

TEKKEN DOJO: The Namco team have set up a mode where you can battle 'ghost' characters in different dojos and in order to move onto the next one, you have to become the top fighter of the dojo you are competing in by fighting the 'ghost' characters. It is exciting because you feel as though you are battling against a human player.

TEKKEN BOWL MODE: This feature is taken from Tekken Tag Tournament. It is just basically bowling but Tekken style. The characters bowl at different speeds so you can decide who is the best for you. Whether you get a strike depends on where you aim the ball, how much curl is on the ball, how fast the ball is travelling and your fighter's starting position.

NEW CHARACTERS: The new characters include street fighter Lily and a Russian army guy called Dragunov who doesn't talk. Also, Armour King returns and judging from his ending movie, he is someone who we have seen before in the Tekken series, but maybe in a different costume. I think that Dragunov is the best of the new blood because he has more of a part in the Tekken plot and his style of fighting is very different.

The graphics of Tekken Dark resurrection is the best you are going to get on the PSP - a lot better than some of the PS2 fighters. The gameplay is as good as it gets except it is sometimes harder to execute moves from the command list (such as Hwoarang's hunting hawk). The sound, even without copyrighted music, goes well with the game. I got the game for a good price so it is also good value for money. If you need anything else, please look back to my Tekken 5 review.
