The best yet in the Tekken series - even better than when number 3 came out.

User Rating: 9.8 | Tekken 5 PS2
This game is one of the best, if not the best fighter on the PlayStation 2. It is also the best in the Tekken series, which is quite an achievement too as Tekken 3 was the most amzing game when it was released. I first saw Tekken 5 on my holiday to the United States on one of those arcade machines, and it looked awesome. I had to get my hands on it, but when I had to go back home to England, it wasn't even out back then. I waited and waited and I always get what I want.

There are three new playable characters - Raven, Feng and Asuka - and one new unplayable boss - Jinpachi. In story mode, you fight to win new characters and videos in theatre mode, but first you have to get past Jinpachi Mishima. Jinpachi is Heihachi's father and he is almost unstoppable. He is extremely hard to defeat (even on easy mode) because he is fast and powerful and has a devastating special attack. When you win, you will see each characters special movie clip which are much better quality than Tekken Tag's or Tekken 4's. The hidden characters you win will not dissapoint either.

Arcade mode is different from the other Tekken games because you fight to gain higher ranking and you fight for money. Also, if you win, you could unlock Devil Jin but there is a more challenging way to do that which I will explain later. The fighters you play against make it as if you are fighting players around the world. The money you win can help buy costumes to customise the fighters with.

Now, the newest and most exciting thing on Tekken 5 is the Devil Within game. You run around with Jin defeating guards and people on four very long stages. Jin is trying to discover his destiny, and he can transform into Devil Jin when the red meter is full - this allows him to fire powerful lasers. Normal Jin has three main attacks with ways of combining them Should you complete it you will recieve a lot of money and the Devil Jin special character. I found Devil Jin most entertaining and challenging.

The graphics is out of this world, the gameplay is the best I have ever seen, the voices aren't as bad as the previous games from Namco and now it is very good value for money.

I absolutely love this game, but if there was anything that was wrong about it, it would be that it gets a tiny bit boring when you play for too long, but that is all. This is a classic and now you can get it quite cheap new. If you haven't got it yet and you know Tekken, I advise you to get it. Thanks for reading, Jem.
