In the latest installment of the Tekken series, this new title raises the bar for the fighting genre. Gameplay: The gameplay is what you would expect from a Tekken game, which is flawless.Everything connects where it should, everything is fluid and it really has a sense of rhythm throughout the fights. One of the first things I noticed during my first playthrough of story mode was that the Enemy AI was put together very well. What might work once on a enemy, might not work again. The enemy also changes in behavior patterns from round to round. Say during round one they make stick to low but in round two they go high. This makes for a bit more of a challenge than just the same moves over and over. The endings for the story mode are very worthwhile to say the least. They make it worth the nine stages of combat and the rather hellish boss battle. Arcade mode was next on my list of must dos. Arcade mode is just straight forward fights, in which you gain ranks after defeating enough enemies. This changes as your rank increases and the Enemies only get harder. So far I've been able to best every rank out there but even I get my a$$ handed to me every now and again. Time Attack mode is of course for die-hard fans. I haven't really invested much time into this one, arcade mode is somewhat addicting. Team battle is another mode where you pick up to eight characters and fight up to another eight characters. This was very entertaining playing against my friend. Win once with your first guy and the second player/comp moves onto his second character. Survival mode is of course just endless fights for as long as possible. My current number of fights is 56. This is also very fun for those who like challenges. Mini-games, there are alot of them. Devil Jin mode is like an adventure mode starring Jin. He's trying to search for answers and along the way you have to fight through five stages and enemies. This is somewhat fun but for the most part I'd rather just play arcade mode. There is a rail space shooter that can be unlocked called "starblade", which is actually quite fun. Tekken 5 also includes Tekken 1-3 in arcade mode. I enjoyed playing as Armor King for the first time in years. Graphics: The cinematics are the first thing I'd like to point out. They are beautiful, nothing more- nothing less. This really makes the endings for story mode nice. The character models are the best I've seen anywhere in the fighting genre. The backgrounds could use a bit more detail but they are nothing terrible. Sound: The sound is done very well. Hearing hits and kicks and people hitting the ground in surround sound is very cool. The music isn't annoying or anything like that. I think it could use a bit more variety in music but the music that is there is great. Value: Definitely worth the 50$. This is the best fighting game in years and surely will not disappoint. It has even attracted some of my die hard anti-fighting genre friends. Tilt: Well if it's not clear already, I love this game. I have been playing it non-stop since I bought it. Well over 500 matches and still no reason to stop. I think that fans of the series will rejoice in this masterpiece that is Tekken 5.
