This The Greatest fighting game ever on PSone

User Rating: 10 | Tekken 3 (PlayStation the Best) PS
When the PlayStation launched in 1995, Tekken was one of the few 3D fighting games available, and it was also one of the best to be ever created, and now, after a second game, Tekken 3 is released for the Sony PlayStation.

Many would argue that Tekken 2 is the best fighting game for the PSone, it is true that the game had stunning visuals (for it's time), and some serious gameplay, but it's sequel Tekken 3 is a much better game, actually, it's the best game I've ever played on the PlayStation.

The story here is a bit silly, something called Ogre, who is a fighting god, kills the martial artists in the world to gain their powers. The hero of the game is Jin Kazama who wants to have revenge from this Ogre for killing his mother Jun Kazama (she also appears in both Tekken 2 and the original Tekken). Other characters in the game also have stories, but most of them have stupid ones. The female character Ling Xiaoyu wants to enter the tournament so if she wins she will be able to build her own Xiaoyu Land theme park.

The fighting is much better than Tekken 2, and I've never had any control problems. As for gameplay you could keep on playing for hours against the computer or, you can double that amount by playing against a friend of yours. There are lots of new faces in Tekken 3 such as Howarang who wants, to defeat Jin Kazama but can't, and the mentioned before Jin Kazama and Ling Xiaoyu. But the most interesting by far is Bryan Fury who is a cyborg created by Dr. Able, he's something like the Jacks robots but looks more human and is literally indestructible. And for those who want to stick with their old favorites Tekken 3 offers a big bunch of characters the appeared in the previous two games, all time favorites like the strong Paul Phoenix, sexy Nina Williams, and the mean Heihachi Mishima are all back.

As for the modes, you could compete in six basic and two hidden modes, including Tekken Force and Tekken Ball. Tekken Force is something like Streets of Rage in which you fight in four time-based levels, each one ending with a boss fight from one of the characters in the game. Tekken Ball is a volleyball game in which you have to hit the ball and then hit the other player with it, or just drop it on his side.

The graphics in Tekken 3 are some of the best on the PlayStation, and definitely this is the best looking fighter on Sony's first machine, but the backgrounds are 2D compared to the 3D backgrounds of the arcade version, still they are nicely made, and the CG movies are some of the best I've ever seen.

As for the sound effects, everything sounds great, from punches to kicks to even screams, and the soundtrack, which consists of fast techno music is brilliant.

As you can see, Tekken 3 is at the top of it's genre, not only Tekken and fighting game fans will like it, but nearly everyone who owns a PlayStation, so do yourself a favor and go by Tekken 3, you'll keep yourself busy for many months to come
