Not deserving of the negative attention. AVGN got this one wrong.

I'm sure everyone that trolls these boards has seen the Angry Video Game Nerds review of this game, and while I find Mr. Rolfe's reviews to be hilarious, he overstated his case against this game. The controls are great, the sound is pretty great too for a NES title. The music won't blow you away, but has a decent variety and overall isn't that bad. The enemies is where he got it right however, some of them are non-distinct and feel really out of place, but hey, its a Nintendo game. Use your imagination. It isn't nearly as difficult as most people describe, particularly since all of the powerups will reappear if you leave the building or sewer making it very easy to restore the health of your turtles. Most of the baddies from the comic book and cartoon are present, including the Shedder, Bebob and Rocksteady, Slash, and the Technodrome. Krang is suspiciously absent, as are a few others. The game seems like it could have been longer, or more mid-bosses used to add more drama to the game rather than having foot soldiers as mid-bosses which seemed tacked on. The water level. Everyone complains about the water level. To be honest, once you have completed it once, it is pretty easy. You have ample time to disable the bombs, and you should be able to make it through without too much trouble. Overall the game seems like it could have been done A LOT better, but didn't deserve the bombardment it got in recent days when AVGN attacked it and later posers like the Irate Gamer and others jumped on the bandwagon. I own this game, and love it. I recommend younger players download it on to their Wii and enjoy a classic. Oh, and to answer another question a lot of people have had is that their bandannas were all red in the original comic book.
