The one Turtles game that has garnered my respect and has kept it all these years.
April has been kidnapped (raise your hand if you saw THAT ONE coming) by Shedder and Krang and needs to be rescued by our four green-skinned heroes. Unlike the arcade version, you could only choose one turtle. The Foot would disappear with one hit, but that doesnt mean there wouldnt be upwards of 40 of them in just 3 minutes in each level. The turtles have their trademark weapons: Leonardo - Katana, Donatello - Bo Staff, Raphael - Sais, and Michaelangelo - Nunchakus. Each one also has the ability to throw an unlimited amount of shurikens.
The graphics were what youd expect out of a GB at the time: black and white (or gray). But you could still recognize the turtles nonetheless. The levels were various settings such as the sewers, a city street, the underground tunnel dug by the technodrome, and even on cars traveling on the highway.
The sound was sometimes annoying because some levels played a variation of the theme song constantly. But if you were like me and had a walkman (not a Walkman, but a tape player. lol, remember those?), you could be free from that.
I remember playing this game in first and second grade while in class. The teacher would be turned around and Id have my GameBoy turned on in my desk. Id take it out to play it when she wasnt looking. Never once got caught. Made the kids next to me jealous because they couldnt do that.
I miss this game. I lost probably 12 GB games at once and I have no idea where they went. Tetris, Super Mario Land, Dr, Mario, all the classics that everyone had. How the heck does someone lose that many GB games at once? Man Im an idiot.
But hey, if you ever find this game in a gamestore: buy it. Its probably more interesting than the Turtle games of today. And if you do buy it, let me know. I might be willing to buy it from you. Im dead serious too.
