Pretty good for a kids game, yet it falls short on certain areas.

User Rating: 7 | Teen Titans PS2
I had decided to purchase ONE more Playstation 2 game before I make the jump to the new-gen consoles. The Teen Titans just happened to get the lucky break for me. After playing it, this is what I have to say about it.

Graphics: 5/10
The blocky animation reminded me so much of the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 1 consoles of old. Kinda bad for a powerful system (graphic wise) like the Playstation 2 to have old, shoddy graphics like this.

Gameplay: 6.5/10
The control scheme is so straightforward, even a 2-year old could play it with ease. But it's a children's game, so DUH!!!!!!!!! In this game, you have 3 specific attack buttons along with a combo, super and special. You're only limited to the combo, but the others are unlocked the farther you go. While the controls are good in all, the game itself has a serious fault in the camera angles. Not being able to detect an enemy nearby while the camera function is of no help and no map makes it kinda annoying. Especially when you can HEAR an enemy, but can't quite locate him (which has happened to me before already).

Sound: 7.5/10
They kept all of the voices intact for the majority of the characters. They get a good score for that. The effects from StarFire's starbolts, Cyborg's machinery and et cetera, are neatly done as well. The music though, nothing stands out for me. Except for the Japanese versions of the Teen Titans intro and the "Larry" version.

Value: 7/10
The game is short, which is its major downfall. I'm not a big fan of really short games. You can easily beat it within the day you bought it. There is also "Master of Games" mode which works like a VS mode in other games, though without a second human player, it gets old really quick and the voices in it can get very unbearable since a lot of them repeat the same lines over and over. You're probably better off fighting without sound for "Master of Games" mode.

Tilt: 7/10
Nothing really special about the game either, especially the storyline. The titans are trapped inside a video game and must fight their way through a virtual world to escape. It's something that has been replayed in a LOT of games over the years. While the plots may differ, the meaning of why they're doing this and that remains the same.

Overall, I'd give this game a 7/10. I've wanted to get my hands on a beat-em-up for my Playstation 2. And while Teen Titans did not deliver in the way that I wanted it to, it did a pretty good job for a game aimed at little kids. Those who are unfamiliar with the Teen Titans TV show and/or don't like it, then don't go near it or rent it. If you're a fan of the series like I am, then buy it if you feel like it.
