User Rating: 7.1 | Tecmo Super Baseball SNES
Tecmo Super Baseball was a game I picked up because of how much I enjoyed the football games of the same title. This baseball game, however, is not near the caliber as the football games, though it is still a lot of fun. On the whole, it is a fairly standard variety baseball game with decent gameplay to make up for some of it's dull areas. Gamplay: 8/10 Game management is one of this game's strengths. Despite the oddity of not having all the team names (probably due to not getting the MLB license), you can have season mode where you control all 28 teams active in major league baseball at that time (1994). The stat keeping is great and the menus are very easy to navigate and use. In the baseball games themselves, the controls are fairly simple with hitting, running and throwing. I was never once confused on what I needed to do to play the game. Graphics: 6/10 Now the graphics and animation are decent. But there is not a lot of variability in the background or in the player graphics. There isn't a lot of detail in the uniforms or in the players period. So although it graphics don't really detract from the game, they don't boost it much. Sound: 6/10 There isn't any background music through most of the game. There is some music when you are in menu mode, and there are game voices that announce events like 'strike'... but there is very little to talk about. Reviewer's Tilt: 7/10 I still really enjoyed this game. I could literally play with over 20 friends if we wanted to each take a team. It is not as good as the football relative. But still worth the time.
