First off, TF2 is quite different from TFC. I would say that TF2 is much more noob friendly. Pretty much all of the classes are easy to pick up. Anyone can just pick up the game and find a class that they are fairly good at right at the start. One thing I like about TF2 is that all of the classes have abilities that are easy for any new player to pick up, but they also all have abilities that are harder to pick up and can be devastating to opposing players.
Many people found the cartoony graphics to be annoying and or lame. Personally I found them fun and interesting. The combination of the cartoony graphics and gore is pretty amusing. Also, the developers chose to really give some character and personality to the classes. There are several "Meet the [insert class name here]" and they are all very amusing and help to give some personality to the classes.
Now, on the the cons. My one major beef with TF2 is the lack of hand grenades. Anyone who played TFC will know what I'm talking about. While removing hand grenades made the game more accessible to new players, I also believe that it detracted from the overall experience. Also, TF2 is much more slow/casual than TFC. Depending on how you like to play, this is either good or bad. Personally I love fast paced games, and I felt this game to be lacking here.
So in the end, Team Fortress 2 is a pretty fun game. If you're looking for a fun and easy to pick up team based FPS, then look no further. If you want a fast paced/"hardcore" FPS, you might want to keep looking.
