the storyline in ToP is very deep and discusses the whole business of the villain being "not evil, but misunderstood." sadly, both the snes and psx remake of the game were never released in the US.

the battle system is quite innovative. instead of your normal turn based RPG, the fights are carried out in real time, side-scrolling action, much like a 2D fighting game. each character's background is very well developed. another bonus is that unlike other RPGs where you must grind for hours to get stronger, ToP is very fast and easy to level up. you can roam around for extra experience if you wish, but as long as you play through the game you shudn't have any problems fighting the bosses.

the graphics and sound are flawless for a 16bit game. each character's special abilities is well animated on screen. the backgrounds are all very detailed. the sound is just as good. you'll never get tired of hearing any songs in the game. the great voice acting, sfx, and music, all come together to create a wonderful aural experience.

it takes about 30hrs to get through it, an additional 20hrs to explore all the hidden areas. overall, this is one of the best games i've ever played on the snes. IMO it's even better than FF4, FF6, Link to the past, secret of mana, and chrono trigger. it's a memorable classic for sure.

ps. stay away from the gba version, it's pretty much garbage
