Abysmally bad sound spoils a funny, old school adventure.

User Rating: 4.5 | Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal WII
Monkey Island is a classic from way back when Lucas Arts cared about story as the graphics couldn't keep up.
The stories from previous titles have been witty, have developed through the games, and never bore.

Eagerly downloading this when it first arrived I sat down and fired it up.
The first thing that struck me was, "I wonder if my audio cables are connected properly?".
I was running from an SD card so swapped it over to the main memory. No change. Other titles on the console are fine.

The sound on this is shockingly bad. With every pop (sounding like electrical interference), the sound quality jumps from average to poor then back again. This will happen every 3 seconds or so. It interferes so much that I can't enjoy the story, the wit, or the charm.

The frame rate is also choppy, freezing at points to the stage where I wonder if I need to reset. This isn't helped by some odd movement issues whilst interacting with the environment.

All that aside, there is still that great humour behind the story line, with that iconic wit constantly flowing.

If you're going to put a product out then do it properly. Compared to some other amazing titles on WiiWare the technical flaws are just embarrassing.

Buy this game if you've loved Monkey Island or enjoy a funny dialogue driven story. I spent $15 Australian on this game (1000 points), so for those that are interested just don't buy it through WiiWare.
