"Waiting to unfold, raging uncontrolled. Adapt a potency, death machine infest my corpse to be."

User Rating: 9.3 | Syphon Filter PS
This is one of my favourite games ever. I loved it back in the days of the Playstation, along with other such classics as Tomb Raider and Resident Evil.

The gameplay it's self is good enough. If you judge it by todays standards, it is still good. As some of the titles released today have little gameplay in them. They are running on a flashy graphics engine and nothing else.
What you do in the game is pretty much the same in all the Syphon Filter series. Sneak passed guarded areas, shoot assault squads hell bent on killing you, sniping certain targets, defusing bombs, etc. It's all pretty fun, if you look for gameplay over fancy graphics.

The atmosphere in this game is a good one. It makes you feel as if you are in a movie, where you are the main star (Gabe Logan) throughout the quest to stop the Syphon Filter virus leak. Gabe Logan is THE original Jack Bauer (24). The only flaw of this game is there is no Elisha Cuthbert character in it lol. Oh well, can't have everything I guess.

The control system is pretty decent as well, the aiming is nice, it locks onto the target and you can manually aim while holing the lock-on so as to pull off headshots, etc. Otherwise you will just be aiming at the chest area of the body when firing.

The level design is pretty good as well, each area is well suited to the game and it's storyline. Textures though on the walls and buildings are not very good. I mean they are good, but not very good. They didn't look very detailed in any sort of way. But, I wont be taking a point off for that, as the gameplay it's self is excellent indeed, it was in many ways a step above most other Playstation games around at that time.

I owned most of the Syphon Filter games in the series (minus "Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror" for the PSP - which I'll get soon). They are games I wont ever part with, ever!. Even though Omega Strain was in my opinion the only weak installment of this excellent series. I know others might like it, but I dont, and I have tried to like it as it is Syphon Filter. I just can't. The SF series holds MANY fond memories for me, due to being too immersed in them.
