Like many King's Field fans out there, I had often wished for a chance to create a game for the series, or see the franchise continue to develop more games for the lineup. I think most fans would agree that any King's Field game that stayed true to the style, story and atmosphere of the originals would be a must buy for the collection, regardless of whether or not the developer used the most state of the art graphics or sound to create them.

My wish was fulfilled last fall when John Osborne released an english patch to this japanese software and opened a huge door for the fans to construct their own game using many of the same style tools that were used to create the original playstation games. Now the western world could enjoy the tools created way back in 2001 to bring their imaginations to life, King's Field style.

The first english game created using the tool was Diadem of Maunstraut, by Tom Eversole. This game inspired me to begin creating my own game, and also showed off alot of what SoM could do if you were willing to invest the time. Thanks to Tom, and others like him, we have successfully built a modest following of fans that are currently working on producing games with the SoM tool.

Currently there is a database of tools, custom models, music and scripting being built at www.swordofmoonlight.com, and with the community sharing info and custom work, the games are benefitting alot to become better and better every day!

I invite anyone who is curious about the software to visit the site, join the forums and start creating your own 3D world. The software doesn't take much time to learn the basics, however mastering it is a challenge. We will be sure to help you along the way.
