The great "Mana" series comes back just as challenging and just as good as ever!

After 10 years of rating, both fans of action-adventure and RPG games finally got what they wanted with a prequel that they've waited a long time for. "Sword of Mana" tells two stories. It tells the story of a girl warrior destined to change the balance of the world, and a boy warrior who would do anything to fight and protect her to achieve it. What's great about the two stories is that they don't both follow the exact same paths, it diverts off into different places and there are new places to explore and different creatures/ people to meet depending on which hero is the main hero chosen during each game. The monsters are cool, the plotline is immersive, the magic is impressive, there are different weapons, each having their own purpose, each boss has a different weakness to a type of magic spell which must be exploited, treasure chests to be opened, and a unique type of weapon upgrade system. By using fruits, veggies, metals, other materials, and many different types of seeds, weapons and armor can be customized to protect against many different various types of ailments, so players are free to experiment with which types of custimizations they like. Not only does this game tell the origin of the Mana Tree and the Mana Sword, it tells it very well and gives us the backdrop of what will become the "Secret of Mana." Until "Secret of Mana" comes out on a Nintendo handheld or comes out on the Wii, this is a good game to play for fun and entertainment until then. I played it, I enjoyed it, and that's why I wrote this review! Enough said! ;)
