This is where Swingerz gets a little confusing. Looking at the graphics you would expect to have a purely arcade style control scheme, but that’s not what you get at all. To sum it up, the gameplay is simple and effective, but deep and complicated at the same time. Using the C-stick to control your swing is easy to figure out, and for the most part it works very well. You may run into problems with it if you use a golfer that has trouble hitting out of the rough, or hates playing in the bunkers. For a good swing, you must pull the C-stick down towards you, and then when the power meter is at its max you shove it forward in a straight line. You can also apply different types of spin to the ball by hitting it in certain places. Feel like pulling a shot around a tree? No problem, want to add some backspin so your approach sticks on the green? Piece of cake.

The caddies are thrown in to help you decide what to do when you can’t figure it out yourself. Unfortunately their advice never seems to be all that great and it seems to put you in a worse pickle then the one you were in to begin with.

For variety there’s a lot of different clubs, balls, and golfers to use. Unfortunately almost all of them have to be unlocked some way or another. It adds to the game by giving you something to work for I suppose, but I’m really getting tired of games only giving you a couple playable characters to start off with.
