I think they got the series numbers mixed up

User Rating: 7.5 | Supreme Commander 2 PC
Dont get me wrong, this is a good game. But after playing Sup Com 1 and FA it just feels old. If I had no knowledge of the game and played all 3 of the Sup Com releases I would assume that this was in fact the first in the series. The graphics are far inferior and the gameplay is so much less evolved the its predecessors.

But, it is still worth playing. Supreme Commander 2 plays much differently then the previous 2 games which makes it worth taking a look at. Experimental units are a much bigger part because you have so many of them, and there are not Tier 1,2,3 units in this game. When you make a land factory you get 1 tank, 1 artillery, and 1 assault bot, thats it, for the rest of the match. Because of that point defenses become rather useless at stopping experimentals because they are made to stop the tier 1 (the only tier) units.

The research aspect is a nice addition and the resource management is more similar to other RTS games out there. Both of these are nice additions, but considering how much they took away from the original games, it doesnt do much to help it.

In conclusion Sup Com 2 is certainly worthy of the name and is enjoyable for the brief period that it will hold your interest. But when it comes down to it, Supreme Commander, which in my opinion is the best RTS since Startcraft, has been dumbed down and simplified in order to appeal to the Call of Duty generation that wants quick simple action with no depth whatsoever.

PS. should be rated 7.5 but it doesn't register anything other than a 1 for reasons unknown.
