Kill Flying Saucers, Dinosaurs and Megaliths with...well... Flying Saucers, Dinosaurs and Megaliths !

People expect an improvement when the second episode of a game series is released. Thats true. Let me tell you this is no Mass Effect 2 or Assassin's creed 2. Supreme Commander 2 is not a marked improvement from the first part, except probably in how smoothly the game runs. Its not a revolutionary RTS. Having said that, the game does have its moments.

The idea is kinda similar to the previous version. You wage a war against three races. The story is sort of a let down, but the action is terrific. The map opens up with sub campaigns, a pretty unique feature also found in the first part. The fights are huge with immense number of units as usual.

Some missions require particularly good strategies. I disagree with people who said the AI is weak. Its actually not, because the opponent will suit their attack based on the units you build and structures you set up. It will exploit flaws in your base defenses easily. It will try killing experimentals if you build them. So, the AI is pretty good. And hey if you build your base in NYC style, it not a fault that dinosaurs cant move through them.

Experimental units are fun. The way to win every mission is simple. First defend your base with defenses, build research stations to quickly improve your tech and then build experimentals and send them over to the enemy base. My favorite is the CYbran flying experimantal unit, its lethal and so cool. The dinosaur sucks.

There was a particular map i really liked. It was an awesome mission. At a later mission, the game brings you back to that map in a starcraft I kind of fashion, meaning the same point in the story using a separate clan. That was pretty amazing. As i said, the game has its moments.

I loved playing the game. Although the story is weak, the action is vast and pure.
