Hipper than your fat butt but when squeezed, feels just the same

Difficulty:
Easy
Time Spent:
10 Hours or Less
The Bottom Line:
"Boring"
Its kind of one of those things better left talked about than at your fingers, like a documentary or a hairy nut-sack. Talking about Woody Allen is cool but invite him to a party and the fun gets sucked down a wormhole, along with your chances of scoring with an underage chick.

Think about this scenerio: Zelda is remade and the lead designers fancy Andy Warhol, Gus Van Sant, and John Cage. I bet the finished product wouldn't look much different than Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery EP. Something that really isn't that much fun to play, but considered more intelligent and creative than jock games like Shank or something.

So its point and click and read and click and point and move then click faster then listen to some sounds and when you fight you'll be clicking then clicking some more. The levels are linear and direct like a shaved path down a hairy chest straight to the goods. Fighting enemies is all about timing left click clicks, which is easy enough since enemies give away attacks more clearly than a three year old gesturing to his mom that he needs to make the brown stuff come out again.

While the story is too verbose and stale to give a rat's behind about, the music isn't bad. But music and an overarching creative art design never sold a game to me and probably never well. Just like with any other art mediums. The Tree of Life may have been one of the most artistic things recently in films since Dali slurping eyeball guts, but without solid substance, core mechanics or clear story telling, all that creative effort becomes wasted and forgotten.

In spite of this I do see potential in Super Sauce Brothers Crossing Their Thick Swords. I tend to support anything that takes us away from the modern video game mile-wide already beaten to a fiery pulp path, and even go as far to say I hope to see more games from these guys. Integrating a new control scheme, different fighting mechanics, a less linear world but all while keeping there sweet looking art design and music, these wankers could be on to something big. And that's what she said.

Your saliva can clean your desk and heal a cut, but it can't fix ten years thrown down the drain.
