Super Street Fighter IV (PS3) is a beautiful game and definetely the best fighting game on any system.

I am a big fan of the Street Fighter series. I couldn't wait to play Street Fighter IV (PS3) and when I finally did I found it absolutely familiar and yet brand new at the same time. I won't say the game was perfect and the only reason I say that it wasn't is probably a minor gripe but, still needs to be mentioned-the unlocking of characters. In short there are set things that you MUST do (no other ways are available believe me I looked) in order to unlock Akuma and Gouken. Other than that it's a solid game.

Fast forward to my selling of Street Fighter IV due to financial difficulty. It was a tough sell to be sure. I thought about buying it again once the price dropped but, then there was an announcement of a SUPER Street Fighter IV. What's this? more characters? more stages? more modes? well then I think I should go with this version and that's what I did. It was worth it!

The game is still very beautiful. I just love the artistic design especially when it comes to the stages. They are bright and colorful-full of life. Especially the African stage and the Skyscraper stage. I also love the anime touches for the character after their selection and at the conclusion of the game. It may not be the highest of quality but, I still think it's a nice touch.

I have yet to explore this but, apparently there are new costumes (three per character) that you can try out. I tend to leave the World Warriors the way they were meant to be in this playthrough but, will probably try this once I finish the game with all the characters.

Speaking of characters yes there are some familiar faces as well as two new ones. My favorite additions have to be Ibuki, Makoto, Guy, and Juri. You also get Dee-Jay, T. Hawk, Cody, Adon, Hakan, and Dudley. Here is one of my favorite parts: you get Seth, Akuma, AND Gouken from the very beginning. That's right no crazy unlocking scheme! when they say right out of the box they were not kidding.

Alot of people have complained that this should have been an add-on, DLC, or update. You have to understand that video game companies need to make money. It's not a rip-off on Capcom's part-it's smart business. They know that the Street Fighter series fan base is HUGE so why not. Plus, you are NOT paying full price. The usual price for a game now is $59.99. This game is $39.99 and worth every penny especially since you're getting MORE fighters, stages, and modes. Of course you have the option to NOT buy it. As history shows us there were many versions of Street Fighter in the past (Super Street Fighter II-The New Challengers (Super Nintendo) comes to mind.

The graphics and sound are good but, what about gameplay? it's tight. It is spot on! every move is easily pulled off and I don't know why but, I found that executing the Ultra Combo moves and Super Combo moves easier to pull off in this version (?) and if you need to refresh you skills the game offers a great training mode for you to use at your convenience.

I haven't played the online portion yet but, from what I can tell of the previews it looks really robust. I'm especially excited about the endless battle and viewing replays of excellent fights.

Super Street Fighter IV (PS3) is worth the purchase. It's still the same Street Fighter IV that we know and love PLUS more. I don't know how, as a fan of the Street Fighter series, that you could NOT want this game. I had my doubts in the beginning but, after following the development and now finally playing it all my doubts and fears are erased and in there place is a sense of joy and satisfaction. I look forward to Street Fighter V but, until then Super Street Fighter IV is a video game I'm happy to have in my collection.
