    Used to play SF2 back in the day, and a bit of SF3. But I never really played competitively.
    But coming into this game, I would like to start playing online competitively. I have no idea where to start, what some terms mean, whats the best way to train offline...
    So yeah, I'd appreciate some recommendations for guides and sources for newbies like me. And any advice would be appreciated.

    Well, here are a few things you could do (my phone has no working period key on the physical keyboard, sorry about that);
    - Play through arcade mode, you'd be surprised how that helps
    -Learn some block strings (ie Ryu's c Lp c Lk cLp cMk Hadouken is safe on block and puts the opponent at a distance) also these vary for each character
    - Learn some mix ups for you character so you won't be predictable
    - Watch some videos or read up on your character
    -Watch some professional matches or basic system mechanics online, you'd be surprised how much that can help
    - In training mode, there is a record replay function- you can use this to practice against a certain character's moves (Like if a certain characters special move is giving you trouble, record it and then replay it so you can try to find a way to beat it)
    - play through your character's trials
    -fool around in training mode and get your execution (ability to do combos consitently) down
    And just ask general questions on matchups or things of the sort

    Hope this helps
