Galaga. Gradius. R-type. Shooter fans all know those games. They're all classic side-scrolling sc-fi shooters. While those other games have a strong following, Super Star Soldier is a sort of an unsung hero of the genre. As iconic as those games are Super Star Soldier is worthy competition for those other ones. If you love power-ups, SSS has 'em. The power-ups are KILLER, because there's several of them, but they are all upgradeable. You'll need those power-ups to overcome the overwhelming odds. The game BLAZES on the screen. The game's backgrounds are sped up quite a bit, giving a sense of speed. There's a handful of bosses too. My only complaints are that there's no multiplayer, and it's a bit on the short side. Overall, fans of classic space shooters should pick this one up IMMEDIATELY, because for only $6, this is a hell of a game.
