Well, look what we have here: a medal on the case saying Best Seller, or is it? Super Smash Bros. Melee is the 2nd game of the Super Smash Bros. saga, but does it hold up well?
Story:
The story doesn't really matter in the Super Smash Bros. series (Excluding Brawl), except you are fighting to become the best brawler in the game. When you finish a mode with a certain character, you earn his/her trophy. In the first, you're a kid who is playing with their Nintendo toys and makes them fight. Not a big deal if you ask me, but a pretty fun idea.
Rating: 8.0/10
Gameplay:
This is the big part where the game will fail. You have many modes, Classic from the N64, a new Adventure mode, Events, Stadium, Training, and the popular Vs. Mode. Classic is the same as it was in the N64, but the Adventure mode is something I need to talk about. In Adventure, you run around in stages looking for the finish, and here's the thing: the levels you run around in suck, big time suck. The first level is a Super Mario Bros. level which I didn't mind, but then they just got BORING! The Ice Climber level is just too fast for those slow characters like Bowser or Donkey Kong (DK), the Zelda level was going back and forth, and don't make me talk about the F-Zero one, that was a piece of S***!!! Now, the unlockables you ask? You have to do RIDICULOUS things to get characters. Mewtwo, play Vs. Mode for 20 hours? THAT'S JUST PURE TORTURE!!! Sorry, BIG thumbs down. Sure though, it has it's moments, but not enough moments.
Rating: 4.0/10
Sound:
The music is just not good enough for me to love them. They are basically the same music from the N64, or remixes of old tunes. The voice acting is something odd to see here though, but it sucks too. Falco's voice sounds like some odd japan b****, Fox sounds like a dork, Bowser a dragon? What the f*** is this?
Rating: 6.0/10
Final Appeal:
I wonder if Nintendo was just in a hurry or what, but this did NOT impress me at ALL. Want a Nintendo fighting game? Go aim for Brawl or N64. This is just PURE torture.
