The best fighting game I've played, Super Smash Bros. puts a permanent mark in gaming history with its party-style fun

User Rating: 9 | Super Smash Bros. Melee GC
I've never been a huge fan of fighting games, but Super Smash Brothers: Melee immediately peaked my interest. The engaging Vs. matches provide hours of fun with friends duking it out in a multiplayer extravaganza. Infinite amounts of time are spent just enjoying the many different matches, modes, maps, and characters available in the game and with you and your friends trying to figure them all out.
Like many fighting games, Super Smash Bros. Melee is all about unlocking. You start the games with 14 characters and limited maps but the more you play and explore, the more you unlock. You reveal trophies, new maps, modes, and unleash all 25 of Super Smash Bros.' Nintendo roster. Yes, as most know Super Smash Brothers brings the majority of Nintendo's greatest heroes and villains into a massive brawl that attracted so much attention to the Nintendo universe, and as such this legendary Gamecube game.
Of course the second main point of Super Smash Bros. Melee is to bring your friends along. This game could hold some of your most memorable gaming moments that you've shared with your buddies. The regular Melee mode can go on for hours with out ever getting boring and the game gives you even more to explore. Set up a tournament to determine the ultimate brawler, or change the way you play Vs. with the many different special melee modes, ranging from slo-mo to invisible to camera mode melee. You are also given many options to customize the normal Vs. mode with special items, stock, and more. This game could not be any more creative in the way it plays multiplayer and is one of the most fun experiences to ever have at a get - together.
Despite its multiplayer immortality, the single player of Super Smash Bros. still supplies plenty of action. Dust off the memories of the classic Mario side-scrollers and Nintendo brawlers with Classic Mode, a journey where the goal is to defeat the next enemy to advance, and make your way to the boss battle finale. Adventure Mode recurs the theme of Mushroom Kingdom, Zelda epics, and Metroid space as you travel through several different stages visiting the realm of Nintendo's biggest stars in the closest thing to story mode that a fighting game can get. But rank up the difficulty, and it can get tough. Other fun modes are available with situation event matches, home run hitting, and multi-man melee.
There's plenty to do, see, earn, unlock, and play through with Super Smash Brothers: Melee, and its one of those games you can play anytime, meant for multiplayer yet you can play it by yourself with just as much fun. Hours of entertainment, fun, and Nintendo magic can be had with this spectacular legend of a game. It's hard to put my message in words for you so I'll just say this: BUY IT!!!
