The follow up to what the official review left out...

User Rating: 6.5 | Super Rub a Dub PS3
Jeff dude...You are great on theSpot, but I have to say that this review was not your best...

First off, anyone not familiar with the game at all should read through the boards, or the official review, to become familiar with it. I am only going to point out my thoughts on what I agree or disagree with...

My first opinion refers to the claim of the controls "not being responsive' and "frustrating". In the beginning I found the tilting to be very overly sensitive also, thinking at first it would play like some of the Wii's racing games (Carbon for example). After playing the demo for 10 minutes I found the controls to be responsive, you just need to adjust to how much (or little for that matter) the tub actually tilts. Once I was able to mimic the tilting of the tub, with similarly small movements of the controller, it ended up working out very well. This seemed to stay consistent on most of the levels also, except for the maps that include whirlpools or other weird currents....those were hopeless at times...It seems that Is the "difficulty" aspect advertised for the game...

Second is the graphics. I have yet to see a $7 game have better ripples and water affects. While I do agree that once you see one level, you never really see anything new, the water alone is worth the price of entry. The detail of the tiny bubbles, and how realistically it gains momentum with the tub tilting is all impressive enough for a cheap game. There are full price games for the newer consoles that really lack in the fluid dynamics department (Resistance for example), and it is nice that the thing you see the most of in this game, looks great for the price...

Third is the "multiplayer" options. Yes it is back to ~1983 with taking turns, but it can be a lot of fun with a competitive group of people. The time trial aspect works for some friends looking to one up each other over and over. While the online leader board stuff is garbage, it is irrelevant anyway. Anyone worried about their times based on the rest of the ps3's community should consider psychiatric treatment. This isn't a fast paced competitive shooter, its a game were you float a little duck around. No one should care about how well other people did except for your friends sitting with you watching. This also is the only reason I am making this write up. the GS review basically describes this game as "not worthwhile", however I find it to be one of the better weird cheap downloadable games to play with friends. Playing it by yourself will give you an easy way to kill 20 minutes, but after that your attention span will dwindle and you will find yourself aimlessly drifting baby ducks into shark's teeth. With a group of friends over, and a decent dose of mind-numbing liquid (beer), this game can turn a boring Saturday night of channel surfing into a frantic time-trial deathmatch.

Super Rub a Dub is definitely not the best ps3 game out there. If you don't own Mortal Kombat II, and for some reason own a ps3 yet still only have $7 to spend...I would go with MK II...But if you already do own it, and you and your friends are getting bored with it again (me)...This could be something decent...Its not the most fun single-player, and its also not the most fun multi-player...But if you and the guys get competitive, this could be worth the couple bucks...it teeters in the "fair" to "good" range...More importantly though I am rating its attributes simply on the fact that it costs $7 and has 50+ maps...It is cheaper than renting a "next gen" game at most stores, and gets plenty challenging. One last note too is that I do agree with some of the board comments that Flow utilizes the controller better...That is accurate...and Flow has a much more intriguing artistic look to it...but they are still pretty different games overall...My main point is simply that this game is far better than a 3.7 rating, but definitely not great...
