W is quite possibly the best Super Robot Wars game ever made.

Another Amazing game in the SRW franchise. This game contains everything you love about SRW and more. And if you have never played a SRW game then this is a great place to start. Varying difficulties can make the game right for beginners and challenge returning SRW players. The game is harder than MX for the PS2 and PSP which is not saying much, but W does have its moments of difficulty. The graphics are amazing in everything they do. The map visuals have depth to them while being a simple grid. The main meat of the game comes from the beautiful battle animations. Although not as pretty as MX, the levels of detail on everything the mechs do far surpasses MX. Its the crazy layers of detail that make this game irresistible to watch every battle scene.

The game play has not changed, which is good. It doesn't have the multiple level things as MX but sometimes simpler is better. All the same commands apply to this game as well (attack, evade, defend, support). The game is plenty long weighing in at about 55 stages, with some levels having different branches for you to go through. There are plenty of awesome mech in the game. This ranges from super robots to real robots. This includes GaoGaiGar, Full Metal Panic, Gundam SEED, Gundam Wing, Detonator Orgun, Mazinkaiser, Getter Robo G, Shin Getter Robo, Go Lion (aka Voltron), Tekkaman Blade 1 and 2, and Nadesico + the movie. They all get special attention and the game goes throughout the entire story of the anime (for the most part). There is the original mechs and plotlines which are good. The original mechs look pretty cool and alltogether has like 5 different forms which is awesome.

The game has a very standard SRW soundtrack. Its just not as good as previous one (NO JAM PROJECT SONG!). All the mech have individual themes that fit them from their show. You can mix and match themes, meaning GaoGaiGar can have the Full Metal Panic theme. There is no translation for the game yet which makes me sad since I would like to know how it is that Kouji Kabuto goes to the same school as Sousuke Sagara. But that will have to wait for another day.

All in all this game is awesome and every SRW fan should own it. Its fun and super addictive and never lets you down for one second.
