Super paper Mario for me prove to be a chore to play.

User Rating: 5.5 | Super Paper Mario WII
To sum it up i didn't enjoy it.Which is disappointing seeing as it reviewed highly and looks on the offset to be a unique interesting Mario game.here

When i played the first two chapters i thought it was an interesting game but soon the lacklustre environments, always having to flip the worlds to find the next hidden passage and having to clumsily change characters and pixls all the time made this mario game more of a chore for me to play and i didn't enjoy most of it.

The graphics are hit and miss at the same time,in the '2d' perspective it is quite nice and the character models and environments are bright colourful and crisp, however when u swap to '3d' perspective theres nothing to be had of the environments except a few blocks, pipes and the odd enemy or two. Also the environments are pretty small, having u soon flip and immediately find the key or exit within the first minute of arriving there.

The gameplay is a mix of typical mario platforming mixed with numbers that level you up and give u extra power, such as how much damage u do when u jump on a enemy or how much life you have. You have access to some typical items that you would expect in a rpg type of game, life up,reduce damage,fire/ice attacts and the sort. They arent particularity interesting and are just taking from the mario universe put in to make up a casual rpg experience, which also feels very lacking of any point, reward or depth.

This is quite a bit disappointed as i was excited to play this game but what super paper mario tries to basically achieve is mix mario platforming and rpg elements together, but what you get is a bad platformer and a bad rpg,so it's like a mix of two bad elements, which doesn't make a right.

The flip mechanics are interesting to start and it's interesting to use the new characters and pixls you acquire through the game for the first time you have access to them, but again there isn't any depth to them and they all do fairly mundane typical actions that just leaves the whole game feel shallow.

If you are a young kid you probably enjoy this game alot more,i disliked the humour and it didn't make me laugh at all as i thought it was childish and uninteresting,so another reason why this was a chore for me to play was to read the wade of endless text that didn't amuse me in the slightest.
However the one thing to point out is that i got stuck multiple times on this game as the puzzles can be quite tricky to figure out.

Overall Super paper mario is a shallow experience that i wish was over in the first 5 hours.
